Some advice regarding feeding this time would. Greatly appreciated. Our 7 month old started solids at 6 months and seemed to love it. Would eat pretty much anything we gave him. Recently he has been teething and his first two teeth have popped up. Before they did he was understandably grumpy all the time and got very upset at meal times which Is expected too. However now the teeth have come through bub is still getting upset at meal times. He will cry when I put him in the high chair and/or when I put his bib on. Sometimes he will slap away the food sometimes calms down and tries it. Also will sometimes not take it and sometimes will. Very rarely finishes a bowl these days too.
I tried sitting him on my lap to start him off this evening and he stayed calm for a few mouthfuls and ate ther rest ist his dinner in his high chair. I didn’t put on his bib as I thought that would be pushing it.
Can anyone advise any strategies to prevent this please or any possible causes.

Perhaps he has more teeth coming through straight after the first ones? Perhaps he remembers the discomfort and is just going to take a little while to get over it. I'd just keep trying a variety of foods and try not to worry about it too much. As long as baby is still getting the recommended breast or formula feeds then the solids are purely for experience and part of the 'learning to eat real food' journey. Our childrens centre and health team always said 'food before one is just for fun' so dont put pressure on the situation. Anything he does with it, even if just playing and not eating is all good fine motor skill development xx
Thanks very much. He has been eating a lot so I have reduced his milk intake. His weight of anything has increased probably due to the fact he wakes for feeds but always has done. Was hoping eating solids would change that but no!
