A bit of internet research suggests that scientific opinions differ on this topic. All seem to agree that the frequency with which the NHS use scans is perfectly safe but there may be question mark regarding excessive home or private paid use.

Equally concerning though, is why you would want to have weekly scans? If it is indicative of anxiety during your pregnancy then I would strongly recommend speaking to your midwife or gp. Mental health is never to be ignored and there is a greater risk of more serious mental health conditions during and after pregnancy. It's really important to look after yourself during this time to allow you to then be the best parent you can be, not to mention the physical effects that stress can have on the pregnancy.

If it's simply due to excitement, perhaps consider exercising a little restraint. If there is any risk it is better to reduce the scans and find another outlet. I wrote a pregnancy diary for my firstborn - a series of short letters, doodles, funny anecdotes for her to read when she's older.

I'd urge you to consider your motivation for wanting so many scans and make sure you are looking after yourself and your little one in the best way xx
