My little lady is 28 months and over the past 2 weeks we have started potty training. She is coping with the wee wee on potty but tonight she did a poo for the first time and she cried like it was a bad thing. It took me forever to say well done mummys proud she just thought is was bad and cried for nearly 5 minutes.
Is this normal behaviour and how do i help her get over the fear of pooing on potty is a good thing.
First time mum so all new to me
Thank u all in advice

Hi, I think it is very normal behaviour. Little ones don't know what it means and see it just as you would see loosing a limb! It's a part of them that they need to learn is normal and ok and goot to get separated from. I don't have a child yet so don't know how to handle it, but I'm sure Google and other parents will soon help.
It is totally normal. My little boy is now 3 but we started potty training at 2 and doing a wee he was fine with but he was so scared to poo he would hold it in so we used to have to put him a nappy on just so he would poo but one day he just went and had a poo on his potty while I held his hand and praised him. After that he's been fine with it. All I would advise is to give her time and she will get used to it. There is no right or wrong way to potty train as every child is different but sounds to me like you and your little girl are doing a great job with it xx
Our nursery manager suggested buying a little windmill that you have in the garden that blows in the wind. She said to keep it in the bathroom and try to get them to blow it when you know they need a poo. The blowing relaxes the lower half of their stomach and helps them to go. Hope this helps!
