Week 24 scan limited baby movement

Hi all,

I had a private scan today at 24 weeks just to check growth and that it is all fine. The baby was not moving much, just a leg kick and we could see it moving it’s lips. I’ve tried a few bounces and moves but it hasn’t worked. Heart bit and growth was all fine. Is it normal and possible that the baby was just sleeping?

I usually don’t feel it moving very often which could be because the placenta is anterior....

Thanks!!

Hey hun.. it’s very normal that baby was sleeping. Have you tried drinking an ice cold drink and lying on your left side! Give that a go and should wake baby. I was in the hospital checking blood pressure etc and the baby monitor strapped to me and there were a couple of ladies whose babies were sleeping. I had to drink water and go for a walk to get him moving and all was fine. I had to lie in hospital bed for an hour with straps tied to me to monitor his movement for a good hour so I don’t think a scan can measure movements properly. But yes... babies sleep a lot xxx

I read somewhere recently that the sharp sound of clapping above your bump is one of the most effective ways to get baby to move. Worth a shot I guess
