Almost 19 weeks

Can't believe we are here already. It's still 1.5 weeks until the 20 week scan, but I feel like I have been moving on in a blissfully ignorant bubble since my 12 week scan on Christmas eve.

I think my bump is a little bigger. I really hope all is well. But it still doesn't seem real and I feel almost like normal most of the time.

From reading lots of posts I can see that feeling normal is fine, in fact could almost be considered as lucky and great. But I do feel anxious and that I am going to be sleeping less and less until my scan on 20th. Any tips or reassurances? Xx

The second trimester is meant to be the good one so just be confident in your growing bump. Soon you'll start feeling little kicks and flutters and that'll give you the reassurance you need. Good luck :) Are you going to find out the sex?

in reply toKempton

No, we want at least one nice surprise at the end of this. So we decided to wait until delivery day to find out. Although we have a sneaking suspicion we are having a boy for some reason.

Thank you for your support, I know I am being weird. Just the anxiousness spilling over ha ha xx

That's great that you are waiting! I love a surprise too. And you're not being weird at all - pregnancy is hard for us fertility ladies, it's not something we take for granted. I'm struggling with my pregnancy too (only about 6 weeks) can't stop worrying because I have even fewer symtoms than with my first, but Im trying to focus on the fact I had a smooth run with my first so hopefully it'll be the same again!

You're almost half way there so enjoy. When you get those first kicks it really is amazing. Wishing you continued health in your pregnancy :)

Wow it seems to be flying by! It’s definitely normal to feel normal. I don’t have any tips as you get closer to the scan as I was always a nervous wreck leading up to every scan. Good luck though are you going to find out the sex? Xx

in reply to

Thank you. No plans to find out the sex. Just having a surprise on the day 😁

in reply to

That will be lovely! I was too impatient to wait xx

in reply to

I can imagine one day feeling impatient but I still feel like I would like a surprise at the moment. Maybe it's part of self preservation too. Who knows.

Hopefully all will be well at the scan the week after next. Surely then I will start to relax more.... x

in reply to

All I kept trying to tell myself the further along I went was that if anything happened there was more chance every week the baby could survive if it was born. Obviously it wouldn’t be ideal but it’s just something that helped a little xx

in reply to

That is a very good way to think about it. Thank you xx

I'm feeling normal too, at 15 weeks. Feeling very well actually :)

No tips really, just wanted to wish you well. I'm sure everything is going to be fine, but it's hard not to get anxious, especially when it's been difficult to get to this point xxx

in reply toMissSaoPaulo

Agreed. Thank you. I keep wishing for the kicking to start, then telling myself to enjoy not being kicked for now ha ha. We are never happy are we x

You are so lucky. I feel so sick and awful all the time. I really hope you are not too anxious to sleep. We all struggle with different things. Pregnancy isn't easy!

in reply toCyclingBump

That is true. It's weird when I feel awful I am reassured that I am feeling something, but I have felt fine for ages. Just some niggles which I assume are organs and ligaments moving around. I should be thanking my lucky stars that I am not suffering (yet). But in some weird way it is making me worry. We are never happy are we!! X

It’s funny how we long for these scans for reassurance and then dread them when they actually come around! I think when we’ve been through ivf and had those super anxious early scans it’s hard not to take that same level of worry into later scans. Just remember having got this far the overwhelming likely outcome now is a healthy baby! 😃

Until then, mindfulness meditation and affirmations? Things like

Everything is going perfectly

My baby has everything they need

My body has the power to grow and deliver a healthy baby

(Sounds cheesy I know 🙈)

Second trimester is known for being the ‘golden’ part of pregnancy where you feel good and have more oomph than in first trimester so don’t worry about feeling normal dear.

xx

in reply toKcrochet

Thank you. I always suggest mindfulness to other people. We just need our own advice sometimes don't we? Ha ha

I always see other peoples updates and wonder at how quickly things seem to progress. But seems so slow for me. Getting to 20 is a real milestone isn't it. I get what you mean about the angst ridden early scans, especially having gone through the anembryonic pregnancy last year. It makes sense.

Right, positive pants on. I will do some mindfulness and affirmations. Thank you xx

Yes pretty sure you suggested mindfulness meditation to me a while back 😂

Know what you mean about time seeming to fly by for everyone’s pregnancies but your own. 14 weeks seemed to last a month for me!

Positive pants at the ready 😄 xx

Wow that gone fast! No advice but excited for your next update 😀 Are you going to find out what you are having or a surprise? x

in reply toLovefood1984

We are having a surprise. We decided that with having gone through ivf many times, which makes everything very known and mechanical, we want to try to keep one thing a surprise. Xx

We had a surprise too, I think if you’ve had IVF you don’t care what gender it is as long as it’s healthy. We were convinced we were having a boy and had a girl but we love her to bits, the morning smiles are amazing 😀 x

in reply toLovefood1984

I feel like we might be having a boy and several people have said the same. But nobody knows do they. I am looking forward to the surprise xx

Eeee! We're nearly at 20 weeks! No advice from me either really hun, as I'm not doing such a grand job of staying chilled myself!! 😂😬 Seem to be wishing my days away until the scan, and equally telling myself to stop being so silly and to cherish each day! 🙈 Wishing you all the very very best, I shall be thinking of you! And yes, positive pants on all the way!! ❤️ Lots of love xxx

So glad to hear things are going well for you! I agree with many PPs that you are fortunate to be feeling well and normal! I certainly wish I did! In my 16 week now and wondering when the energy surge is going to appear and the nausea and fatigue to be over 😒. Best of luck with your scan, I'm sure it'll be fine. Xx

in reply toSfarre

Thank you. Well and truly back in my box and enjoying feeling well again. I hope you all feel better soon. X

I remember feeling grand and worrying prior to feeling kicks and the 20 week scan. I didn’t feel any kicks until 22 weeks and now at 26 nearly 27 the kicks are a daily reassurance. This has been the only thing that has reduced my anxiety. Waiting for scans are so terrifying. Sat outside the room waiting to be called I find to be the worst. 🙏🏻 Hope all goes well and after this next scan you will be on the home run!

in reply toMrsH007

Yes, not long to wait now xx

Hiya

Normal is fine. I too worried about my 20 week scan. when i had it and was told all was well and baby was developing and growing fine, i was so relieved and told myself to not think thoughts other than positive ones. Just think how far you have got and where you are now. Such a blessing and some days you will find you still cant believe you are pregnant but it does sink in esp after the 20 week scan. You are gona love it, seeing baby again on the screen doing somersaults. Your worry will then be when do i feel flutters etc. As then you will rely on movement for reassurance so make the most of the scan and ask as many queastions as you can. I am nearly 23 weeks and although i felt a flutter here and there prior to this its only now just beginning to feel more regular. Im so happy for you...exciting times ahead hun 👍🏻💕🤞

We are doing this! Can you believe it... our time has come... it will be more real when you start purchasing for nursery and baby. Be happy xxx

in reply toMasha111

Oh it's so true Masha111. Its strange to think how far we have come. You have been a real support through all of this too.

Thank you xx

I’m 17weeks it’s my 2nd and I don’t feel pregnant at all, I don’t seem to have much of a bump at the moment either ( just Christmas fat 😂)

in reply toMilly39

I keep thinking mine is Christmas cake. But sometimes its bigger than others and all the Christmas cake is gone xx

I’ve followed you for a while on the fertility forum and I’m so pleased to see everything is going well for you. I’ve been a anxious through my whole pregnancy but here I am at 29 weeks with junior kicking away, sore back and leg cramps ha ha. I still can’t believe my luck and because of the fight it’s taken to get here, I still can’t quite believe it. I’m sure you’re the same. Can’t wait to see your scan picture which I hope you’ll pop on here😀xx

in reply toNoobs

Oh thank you noobs. 29 weeks! Wow. That's amazing. How funny that it seems to fly for when we are watching others. I know I will long for the feeling fine days ha ha xx

Glad everything's going well. We're at 33 weeks on Monday and I can't believe how fast it's gone. We found out in the end- hubby wanted to more than me but I didn't mind plus despite seeing baby on the scans and having extra growth scans every time I looked at the screen I never expected to see anything as I still couldn't believe we were pregnant despite my expanding belly! I guess having fertility treatment gives you extra anxiety. I'm really glad we have all got this far. Enjoy the 2nd trimester- it's by far been the most pleasant for me- feeling baby move and no more sickness. Third trimester has left me tired and aching but I cannot wait to see baby now xx

in reply toCC2018

Oooh not long to go now. So exciting. It is nice that we are kind of all on this journey together. Xx

We got there in the end. I hope everyone else does too. Infertility makes you tougher :) xx

Hang in there. Only natural to feel apprehensive. I felt totally normal no symptons apart from bump. I guess you need to tell your self that no symptons is normal for your pregnancy and therefore no reason to worry but we all know easier said than done 😊 I think most of us on here spend our pregnancy convinced something will go wrong. I know I'm exceptionally lucky and wee Jack is 13 weeks now. I sometimes have to pinch myself as instead of having 9 months to prepare for a baby tge reality that's it's happening only starts once he/she arrives. Good luck for scan and can't wait to hear how you get on x x

in reply to

Thank you. It's all so true. Wow, 13 weeks already! Amazing xx
