17+4 weeks Not sure if baby is ok

Hi, I am 17+4 and have been having bad morning sickness since about 5/6 weeks. Just in the last couple of days it's started to improve and I am feeling more normal, and am also seeing the end of a cough and sore throat. I am so glad to be feeling less sick but also I am starting to get worried that maybe something's gone wrong. Especially as I don't really have a bump yet. If anything I look less pregnant than I did a week or two ago! I haven't felt any baby movements yet either and am not really sure what they would be like. They said everything was ok at my 12 week scan but now I am starting to get scared about going to the 20 week scan and finding that I've lost the baby. I had an early miscarriage before this pregnancy so that's making me more anxious. Please can anyone help? Becky

Hi I have had the same anxieties. I’m now 29 weeks and I only started to feel movements around 20 weeks and got more obvious and frequent at 24 weeks. I have an anterior placenta too which stops movements being felt easily.

I never had morning sickness but any symptoms I had which weren’t many stopped after 12 weeks as the second trimester is supposed to be the best in that you feel like normal again until the 3rd trimester. I didn’t get an obvious bump til around 20 weeks either.

You could always book a private scan. I went to a place called window to the womb because we wanted to find out the sex and it was around 60 quid and helped my anxieties until the 20 week scan xx

We have also lost 2 babies through miscarriages before being pregnant with our rainbow boy. I'm now 21+2.

I had barely any nausea or other pregnancy symptoms by 14 weeks as they had all seem to disappear! I was concerned for the same reasons you are so we booked a private scan for 16 weeks. At 18+4, I thought I felt him move and by 20 weeks I could feel him moving more regularly. My friend is 23 weeks pregnant and only just started feeling her baby move.

You could see a slight bump at 19 weeks but now I'm 21, there is a definite bump. Some people show and feel baby move at different stages. As ling as you've had no bad cramping or bleeding, everything should be fine hun. If you're still nervous then I would recommend booking the private scan. We paid £45 for ours, a 15 minute scan with a CD and 2 pictures! Was worth the money!

Wishing you all the best xx

You may possibly have an anterior placenta which can cause movements to be felt later on . If you have any worries contact the maternity triage even if it’s just for reassurance xx

If this is your first baby then it's normal not to feel movement yet. I didn't feel anything until later with my first but much earlier with my second. You might start to feel flutters. I have known people who haven't looked pregnant until 30 weeks! Don't panic. Again with first babies you tend not to show as soon. If you are worried, speak to your midwife.

Sickness improving is bitter sweet isn’t it. If you’ve had no bleeding or pain I would say all is well but call your midwife and she can listen to baby’s heartbeat or send you for a scan if she thinks you need it.

I had no morning sickness at all. (I was off strong smelling foods week 6-week16). Your morning sickness and bloat was probably caused by a sudden change of hormones which have now settled. You don't have to be sick to have a healthy baby.

Bump - I was a gym goer and didn't even look pregnant until week 27.

Movement - I felt nothing until week 25

Like you I miscarried my first pregnancy. I have a newborn daughter now who is doing really well. Feel free to pm me if you like x
