Starting to worry

Wondering if anyone has any personal experience of a pregnancy not being picked up by urine tests and blood tests until 11 weeks or even later?

I’ve had light bleeding twice since I’m certain I conceived at the end of Dec) both nothing like my period) and I’ve had fully blown pregnancy symptoms identical to my first pregnancy since the end of Dec/beginning of Jan.

If I am pregnant and my dates are right, I’ll be 11 weeks next week.

Symptoms are strong and daily, no respite - insane bloating, non-stop nausea, lower abdominal & lower back pain, painful swollen breasts, a complete lack of appetite, the metallic taste, pee-ing frequently, skin breakouts, mood swings, heightened sense of smell, need I go on...

The last few days in particular my tummy has really popped. Again, a carbon copy of my first pregnancy, where I started to show at 11/12 weeks, and at the time I suddenly felt enormous (looking back I wasn’t, lol!!)

I did a home urine test in Jan & again in Feb on the days my period would have been due which are the days I also had the light bleeding, and both came back negative.

I would absolutely move on and be fine (disappointed but fine) IF my symptoms weren’t prevailing to this day, which is beginning to make me fear something terrible is going on with my body.

I had a blood test on Monday of this week, when technically speaking I would be 10 weeks, and I got a call from my surgery on Friday requesting I repeat the test again this week as they want to check my inflammatory markers again, as they’re presenting as elevated. No mention of how elevated or if I’m pregnant or not and when asked my surgery receptionist was less than helpful.

I guess next week will hopefully give some answers, but I’d really appreciate any advice or similar experience.

My mind has been straying in the wee small hours, and I’ll admit I’ve turned to google with my symptoms and the notion of elevated inflammatory markers with bloodwork.

Apologies for the long post!

Ask for a copy of your results to be printed. If your beta hcg level we’re above 5 the gp would have told you. I think the quickest way would be to book a private scan.

Thank you for your reply. Funnily enough I have been researching private scan opportunities in my area over the weekend. I will try to talk with my practice team this week when I repeat the blood test and make steps to book a scan privately.

That must be so worrying. Inflammatory markers can be a symptom of so many things so I would assume once you do the test again if it comes back the same the GP can refer you if needed. Yes you could always book a private scan to confirm if it’s pregnancy x

UPDATE:

2nd blood works were done this week and the prelim results came through yesterday... inflammatory marker still up as before, with a reading at 10. Hcg negative. But I don’t know if it was a quantitive or qualitative test.

Also found out 1st blood test wasn’t even checked for pregnancy - long story/failing by the nurse!

Couldn’t get any more details on the 2nd test this week as the brief info was given to me after I called my GP practice, but I have a follow up appointment on Monday with my GP to discuss details.

This aside, all the symptoms of pregnancy prevail to no avail, so I’ve booked a private scan of my pelvis and abdomen for tomorrow.

I went to the hairdresser today as a distraction, and she commented on the condition of my hair, asking me if I was pregnant!!!

Praying to see a baby on the screen tomorrow, or something. I’m slowly going out of my mind...

Any idea which inflammatory marker is 10? 10 is not really up for both an esr or crp or white cell count... of course that depends on lab ranges, but with standard uk ranges 10 is normal. Most medical tests are quantitive tests (can't think of any qualitative types)
