my last period was on either the 28th or 29th December, did a pregnancy test on 26th Jan (the day my period was due or a day late, as i did not feel too good) and it said 1-2 weeks pregnant the clear blue test says to add 2 weeks on, i saw a midwife last week as i had a slight bit of bleeding she says they go off the last period so im roughly 6 weeks now, but is there a possiblility that i am only 4 weeks pregnant?, im so confused and im worried that when i go for another scan in 2 weeks they are going to say the baby has stopped growing when in fact im 2 weeks behind what they actually think?
Its a very nieve question but its yet another thing i am very worried about!

Since there is no way of telling when exactly you have ovulated which would be necessary if you wanted to know the exact "age" of the baby, it is more accurate to say the pregnancy starts with the first day of your last period and lasts for 40 weeks. In fact, it really starts about 10-16 days after your last period and lasts for 38 weeks, but as I said, it is not really possible to tell when exactly within this time slot.
You don't have to worry that at the scan anyone might think the baby might be two weeks behind in development. Doctors and midwifes know that if you are for example 12 weeks pregnant, the baby is only about 10 weeks old.
Good luck to you, and if anything worries you: We're all here
Thankyou I have asked so many people that question, the doctor my friends who have babies and I have looked at a few websites and that is the best explanation I have been given thankyou so much

Yes I was going to answer you Q but newlywed has perfectly explained it to you. On your 12 wk dating scan all will be explained. They'll not go by the clear blue date, they'll go by your last period date like newlywed says. They then take several measurements and give you a more accurate date, hence the name dating scan. Have you had your first hospital antenatal appointment yet as all should be explained to you then. Congrats by the way
I had an appointment last thursday, by the clear blue test instructionsi would have been 5 weeks although the test only said 2-3 weeks but I was bleeding so had a early pregnancy scan to check that I was still pregnant although very early and didn't see much apart from the sac and the "yolk sac" was really small but ok but makes me think I'm not quite as far gone as they think
I am in the exact same boat. Last period was around 17th December so doc says I am 8 weeks but I did clear blue last week and it said 2-3 weeks. I think I am only 5 or 6 weeks. Just waiting for the first appointment to get an accurate date. Have had spotting on and off for the last few days but doc says nothing they can see is a problem so just a waiting game!
Its so confusing my partners mum has given me a book called "a baby is born" she had from when she was pregnant with my partner and it details what it should look like each week of pregnancy and what I saw on the screen looked smaller than what it looked like in the book x
