25weeks still sick should I do glucose test?
Personally if I had the a family history of diabetes I would want to know if I had gestional diabetes myself as it can cause problems with babies.
The drink you need to have does make you very sickly, so if you're using anti sickness I would suggest having the pills before with only water. (You do need to be starved for the test before, and then wait an extra two hours after the drink before you can eat anything). It's not gonna make you more sickly long term tho
That's my personal opinion. I'd probably ask each the pros/cons I make an informed decision. Also questions such as what if I have gestional diabetes and I don't have the test ... what then?
Hi Supermummy. I had this dilemma too but opted against having the test as I have been feeelig sickly throughout the whole of my pregnancy and the idea of downing 420ml of Lucozade at 9am did not thrill me at all. Ultimately it is your decision but as others have said, it's best to look at the pros and cons of each option and then make a decision. From what I understand one of the consequences of gestational diabetes is a larger baby but you would be referred to a specialist who would give you dietary advise. Good luck x
