Anyone else on Femulen? I am not a happy bunny...

Hi all, I got a real period 7 weeks after having baby (hadn't started using any contraception at this point), a week later I had my 8-week check up with the GP and she prescribed the progesterone-only mini pill as I am partly breastfeeding and said I could start it any day of my cycle... So I started it that day which was day 7 of my cycle ... She said I might get some irregular bleeding or shorter periods ad to give it 3 months to settle... Well, she wasn't wrong, a week later a got a period which was annoying enough, and two weeks after that (ie today) I got it again :(

a period once a month is tiring enough but one every 2 weeks with an 11 week-old and a c-section scar still healing is exhausting and making me miserable as I get all the usual pms symptoms...

Anyone having similar issues ? Should I stick it out and wait to see if it does really settle??

Oh dear!, my view is to stick it out. its very inconvient but i guess its the only way of your body recovering & getting back to normal. I suffered with irregular bleeding after giving birth to my son (4 yrs ago) even though i had a VB my G.P refused to prescribe me any sort of progesterone pill so unfortunately had't to suffer for about 4mths after birth.

Im sure it will get better soon.

Thanks Abenaa, maybe I'll wait and see if i get it again in another two weeks and if so maybe go see the GP.... Out of interest why did yours refuse to prescribe a progesterone pill?

Im not actually sure why my G.P refused to prescribe me the progesterone pill back then, i think it could have been something to do with the amount of blood loss during childbirth i guess they thought i'll recover better without it.

Ive never got on with the e pill, and mini pill just makes me bleed brown discharge all the time they say try for 3 ,months but like u said could you bear that for 3 months! What about the coil? Copper one?

Never really seriously thought about the coil ... Maybe look into it..!

definately try the copper coil, the last thing you need is extra hormones flying around right now
