I’ve had my first scan at EPU today at 7 weeks. Scan showed I am 6 weeks. I am very sure when I last had my period so i should be 7 weeks pregnant. She said it was too early to see a heart beat. I am fearful of the worst. Any chance the outcome could change in a week as I have another appointment next week.
Thanks in advance x

Hi there, one week to be ‘out’ on your dates really isn’t much. For example a due date is always approximate with 2 weeks either way where baby could come early/late because you can never be certain exactly when you ovulated and when egg implanted.I have read several posts on here where women have had to return for a second scan a week later and all turned out well snd baby had developed a heartbeat so it’s entirely possible.
There are of course also cases where as you say things don’t always work out that way and the news isn’t what you want to hear.
Unfortunately there’s no way of knowing and no way to influence either way. It will be what will be - all you can do is try to keep busy and try relax, it’s not always bad news!
Thanks Pasaeoco01, this is reassuring. Plan is to keep busy and positive and hope for the next next week. With 4 previous back to back miscarriages it’s so hard to keep positive. This is the furthest I have come and on progesterone, am being hopeful that it will work out. Thank you xx
Thanks Artmum22, this is reassuring. My mind wonders and never positively. I thought I was 7 weeks pregnant but maybe my calculations are off. Thank you xx
I went to EPU and my scan was out by 3 weeks. I thought I was 10 weeks based on LMP but I was 7 weeks. Fast forward I had my 16 week gender scan on Monday and baby is healthy and growing. However I was not tracking my ovulation so just going off the LMP method which in my experience is very incorrect!
