Painted as escapism. Yesterday I received a phone call from my oncologist (that reads wrong; she's not "mine", but the person who deals with me). The MRI scan taken in late December has found a deposit of cancerous matter in my pelvis, to the left of my sacrum. This is not unexpected, given the pain I have been having. It is a metastasis from my prostate cancer, which was first treated in 2004 and has been giving issues periodically since. We are to zap the little dear with some radiation.
The painting below was, as with all my paintings, just playing around with some paint and inks. As a geologist by training, I had some issues painting the cliffs -- I cannot help but try to paint them with some semblance of realism. I like the result, which is nevertheless semi-abstract.
