A Welsh Embayment

Painted as escapism. Yesterday I received a phone call from my oncologist (that reads wrong; she's not "mine", but the person who deals with me). The MRI scan taken in late December has found a deposit of cancerous matter in my pelvis, to the left of my sacrum. This is not unexpected, given the pain I have been having. It is a metastasis from my prostate cancer, which was first treated in 2004 and has been giving issues periodically since. We are to zap the little dear with some radiation.

The painting below was, as with all my paintings, just playing around with some paint and inks. As a geologist by training, I had some issues painting the cliffs -- I cannot help but try to paint them with some semblance of realism. I like the result, which is nevertheless semi-abstract.

So sorry to hear your news, but like your reaction to it! Hope the zapping sorts it out.

I think your Welsh cliffs are okay. Loving the Cornish coast as I do, when I enlarge the painting I can see the detail better and they look like rocky cliffs.

Its good to hear you are still finding release in your painting Brent. Not such good news unfortunately but you are dealing with the outcome in the same way as always... by taking your mind off it using your creativity. It obviously helps. You have been through this many times before and you will come through it all again. Have faith!Best wishes.

Hi Brent. Really like your painting, Sending best wishes for a positive outcome.

Hi Brent_Wilson, I commend you for your great stoicism and I know I couldn't be half as brave, faced with that new information. Wishing you courage and very best wishes as you now go forward with your latest fight and I hope that, armed with that new information it'll be possible to improve your pain situation a little too.

Looking at your painting I'm indulging my escapism too and imagining I'm a seabird soaring over this lovely Welsh bay. I like it very much too! 👍🌈
