A pancake painting

Hands up all those expecting a painting of a pancake. I refer to my first attempts at a challenging painting as being 'pancake paintings'. This is A4 watercolour with wax crayon, oil pastel, watercolour pencils, fun and other stuff -- including some distressed hessian in places (I can't wait to try that again). Its actual title is "Welsh waterfall 1". By my third attempt I might be happy with it.

Jacqui loves my pancakes. Mind you, the ones I give her aren't crispy and blackened around the edges.

This really is quite wonderful. Obviously a lot of work and patience has gone into it. I am avoiding oils, which my father is now into, and realism, ditto. Here's one of his for comparison with mine.

I tried using another technique that I use rarely, dabbing the wet paint off the paper using kitchen roll. I love the effect it gave on the moss-covered rocks.

Yes messing about can learn you stuff that's how I learned to paint 😊🌈

I love your paintings

Brilliant 👏👏👏

It's a more than credible effort BrentW, but i know that, for artists of all kinds, perfection is always the goal. Such a pretty palette of colours and some fun techniques. I love the tree clinging on tenaciously. It reminds me of a painting I once owned, long ago. Don't forget to share whichever version becomes your favourite! 😊👍

Yes it's like yours is sometimes unexpected of what's coming on your pictures lol check out Brent's dad's paintings on here above mine i'm rubbish at watercolour it can't be corrected once on that's it 😊

I really love the way that it is drawn and coloured. Did you compose the shot yourself? It is almost like a collage of shapes and strangely reminds me of Matisse. I think it is a lovely painting and very calming, giving hope in these Covid times.
