Tan-y-Bwlch Mountain, Wales. From today's art class. A4 watercolour.
When the mountain top began to go in unanticipated directions, developing blooms (clouds?) into the sky, I couldn't help but depart from the class procedure and put in some of the techniques I often use. I made more blooms on the mountain itself, picked out its edge with some dark paint laid into the wet wash, and lifted out some reeds in the foreground.
Given my fear of painting water -- such as the river here and its vague reflections -- I am overall pleased with the result. Definitely one to try again with yet more of my techniques.

I imagine it must be quite difficult to paint reflections. I like the reeds, they look delicately painted.
Hi I really like this love the clouds and reflections and the shading on mountains and the green rushes it's very cleverly done 😊xx
I love this BrentW. It's absolutely charming and you've made a good fist of the water too. Water is a challenge isn't it, but nothing like getting stuck in and practising!
You should be proud of this “save!” Brent! Sometimes we end with “happy accidents” ~ when the unexpected happens (especially in watercolor) and lessons can be learned in our reaction. I really like the river and its reflections ...
