The Swiss alps?

A busy noisy 5 star hotel in the middle of London and theatres?

Tropical beach?

Amazon forest?

World cruise?

The Swiss Alps most definitely

in reply to

Snap!

in reply to

Most definitely, stunning scenery and so clean from what I understand

I’m just crazy about mountains. Last holiday was a Rhine Cruise but we were taken to see the North Face of the Eiger. Awesome!

in reply to

I'm exactly the same, I can imagine how awesome that was. We don't go abroad but holiday in Derbyshire and the Lake District, I love the mountains in the Lakes. Hence if I were to go abroad it would be somewhere where there were mountains 🌄🗻⛰

in reply to

Have just booked two months in Peak District and Lakes in our motorhome but already I think waiting for vaccine will mean cancelling it.

in reply to

All depends on when it's booked for. We're due to stay in Longnor in Derbyshire in May.

in reply to

We start in April Castleton, Chatsworth Park, Hawes, Coniston, etc not necessarily in that order. Hoping they’ll open the Continent up and then we can go Newcastle-Amsterdam and who knows from there.

in reply to

I see Longnor is near Buxton. Our grandson is up there at the moment filming with Ben Fogle.

in reply to

You may be ok, depending on the vaccine. Loveky areas you are visiting.

Yes it's 6 miles away. Oh wow, that's excellent to hear.

in reply to

We are both over 75 so shouldn’t be long, it’s waiting for the second vaccination which will put us out as we usually try to go for 6 months

in reply to

Ah right, yes it will be the second one that'll do it as there's a few weeks between them

cruise

None of these! The nicest holiday would be to go camping with all of my Family and Grandchildren, well in caravans not tents, and enjoy a week of being together and have some fun!!!🙏

I've been to Switzerland twice, would love to go again and/or Austria, I'd like to go on a cruise, I also love Star Trek and would love to go to America,, never been there, for a convention, been to 2 in the UK and loved them, sorry if I'm being greedy 🇬🇧😊❤️⛲

Tropics, a resort hotel by the beach in the South Pacific.

Tropical beach for sure. Love the ocean!

Seaside holiday for us but we decided against booking anything for now and have decided to wait.

Maybe a tenting holiday in my back garden?🥴🙃😗🙄

I'd take any of those. They all have huge appeal for me. Oh just wait till I have that big lottery win. I'll be doing them all. Permanently! 👍😀

Depends who I am with . I could enjoy any holiday with my husband . We are agreed we can’t go but those long beach walks in the sun then a drink in a bar then carry on . We took our May and October holiday for granted and this is what we miss. Winter local walks aren’t the same .

Up until the pandemic hit we used to enjoy spring and autumn holidays say like April and September or October and we had hoped that back in September we could have them after all but no we couldn't and I had been absolutely devastated and an old colleague had said how it was because those things were important to me and that I enjoyed them which was why I had felt devastated rather than being malicious.

Same as you we missed those last year and in a way I was glad I was disappointed back then as it gave me an idea that there would be a mess over Christmas so didn't plan anything which was a good thing as I knew the government would have done that like they did with summer holidays so I learned a lesson from having been heartbroken over those but no one enjoys being heartbroken at the time though.

Cancelled events can feel devastating and the end of the world at the time no matter how silly and trivial they seem as what's trivial to one isn't to another.

What we decided to do is put holidays on hold for now and not book anything until things are more settled.

We are the same . My 60th - a holiday booked and cancelled by airline in March . It did hit me . I know I am lucky as kept job , health is average but I did feel very very sorry for myself.

in reply tofocused1

Perhaps you are lucky but that's not the point.

That cruise was something that was important to you personally and you dreamt about it and became attached to the idea and then to have it cancelled at the last minute was like a smack in the face and supposedly being lucky in no way means you have no right to be upset over important things to you being cancelled at the last minute.

Anywhere I can get away from people. I'm not feeling at all sociable right now. I just want the pandemic gone.

Holidays offer different things to different moods. Three days in York visiting relatives, the Teddy Bear Cafe and the Railway Museum can warm the cockles in the same way as a week on the beach. As soon as we are able I am going to look at holidaying at home. There are so many places in the UK that I have never been to.

in reply toBecksagogo

I went to York years ago to the railway museum and the York castle one and jorvik and the dungeons and really enjoyed it there.

We feel the best decision for us is to put holidays on hold for now and maybe see about them when things are more settled.

Me too. I shall have my vaccination and when Boris says run free I'll be up the M1 like the proverbial ferret!

in reply toBecksagogo

For me I think it won't be for a while that I'm called for my vaccine but I'm happy with our decision to wait until things are more settled as it hurts when you look forward to something and it's taken away from you at the last minute.

Becksagogo profile image
Becksagogo in reply to

I'm in the "old codger" bracket due to heart problems and COPD so hope to be called soon. When I said "run free" it will be more of a fast walk!

I like the that idea, sensible thinking! I haven't been anywhere on holiday but cherish my dad's 85th Birthday celebration in Germany 2016 💞 That would be my first call go and visit my German family if permitted again to safely travel when most citizens here and in Germany have been vaccinated !

I won't take any risks nor for myself or any of my family members 🙏🤗

Despite being fed up we need to be patient and holiday can wait!

Covid-19 kills and I am not willing to be a statistic!

Hope you hat makes sense 💞🙏

in reply toSnowdrops_17

Thats what we decided was the best option is to wait as you enjoy things more when you have had to have waited for them.

My best holiday was a 2,500-mile cycle ride to Tromso, with ferries from Folkestone to Boulogne, Travemundi to Trelleborg and Bergen to Newcastle.

Not the Swiss Alps i have enough trouble breathing on the flat, a tropical beach sounds good at the moment - feeling the cold xx

Hi darling we had a good time despite the restrictions, lovely phone calls with family and friends, mummy ate and drank too much 😺 Lola was very spoiled, how did you and Baby get on? xx

in reply toLittlePaws

Baby and myself got on really well over Christmas and did our best in regard to a horrible situation realising how more people are disappointed than not in regard to the current circumstances as I have been feeling despondent over job hunting but I feel better now I have had my workout this morning.

I did get a short visit to Penarth back in September which I enjoyed.

The lake district is a bit like Switzerland, but Switzerland is far better, so is Austria and Italy.

Yes! Although I don't drive & it takes all day to get there, it is easy just one train to another, & a lovely way to travel. But am mobility impaired now & haven't yet worked out how to manage a case + walker. Taxis. Costs rise. And it would all depend on availability of disabled room at YHA. I moved to a supported retirement apartment in August, so am juggling home improvements also. Roll on the attendance allowance!

Totally agree i live in South Wales but West Wales is my spiritual home, missed my visit this year xx

I went there years ago and caswell bay which I really enjoyed.
