Hi I havnt been on Holliday for about 8 years due to parental responsibilities of having a very need cat that can't bear to be apart from me ππ
Forget this years holiday Clive, and maybe think about next year, but only think about it.ππ·
We like Cornwall too, never been abroad in all my 77 years, not even while in the Royal Air Force?
I really hope people opt for days out instead of holidays. I've been shielding a years today and the advice is to not book anything, so why would anyone book anything???Let's get over this pandemic for good.
I went to Jersey on honeymoon x
I agree covid will always be here but for the sake of a few extra months I wish people would stay local for just a little longer than moving around the UK. I've recently learned that I probably won't have take up of the vaccine so I just want people to be thinking of others as much as possible. I don't want to be a part pooper, I just think rates need to be as low as possible and NHS capacity increased before we all rush out for holidays and shindigs.
We went in an old Dakota. You could see gaps and the grass runway was covered in snow. Mind you Iβm talking 56 years ago!
I did laugh when I read about this Hylda, because my family travelled the same way in the same time frame. We were ushered into the rear of the aircraft and a floral curtain separated us off first class to the front. But when the stewardess accidentally brushed the curtain aside we were astonished to see not superior passengers having a gin and tonic but meat carcasses, swinging and swaying from meat hooks somehow affixed to the fuselage!
Won't be booking anything. I might have the occasional day out. I always go to Italy each summer and I'll miss it yet again, but I'm not prepared to take any risks. Not now we've come this far π°
If you go from Southampton airport it was still a small plane last time we went. Outside loo! π€£
I would think Jersey would count. Ive been there in the late sixties, stayed with a friend.
I seem to remember going to Jersey by Hovercraft and feeling unwell on it.
Hi Clive, it's very blowy here too - like March winds and April showers all rolled into one. We won't be booking anywhere this year, we don't want to take any chances. x
Hi Clive, I'm absolutely waiting to see how things actually pan out later in the year. To be honest, I'd be very happy with very little this year and it will be terrific if we're just able to go out on day trips and walk along the foreshore locally, visit the New Forest or take the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Anything more exotic can wait for a while. I think it's actually going to take at least a year or two to settle down, at best. How are you feeling about holidays?
You can now go by a high-speed catamaran to Cherbourg. Affectionately known as the vomit comet.
There's still a little privately run one which goes between Southsea and Ryde on the IOW. And it still draws a crowd every time it roars up over the shingle on the beach. And I always feel like wearing sunglasses and giving a film star wave as I emerge from the cabin!
We have booked a week in Dorset.I would book it asap as they are going fast.Good luck
There was a mention of Hovercrafts on the tv some time ago and I think it was saying there is one firm still using them but not perhaps on the main routes. Iβm wondering now if it was France that I went to on the hovercraft. I know I didnβt come back on it. Must have got the ferry to Jersey. Went for the Battle of Flowers parade.
