No you are NOT Alone....

Dear Friends,

Another 'Lock Down', more Restrictions on who, and where, we can see our Family- and Friends. Maybe another Month, or more, without a Haircut (just as well I had one a week ago). However, are we 'Alone'? Of Course NOT! We have this Forum, The Whole Internet, The Television...Netflix, Digi- Boxes, Sky, BT, Virgin, EE, Talk Talk, PlusNet, Vodaphone... and I'm sure 'Others' too. Not to mention Thousands of Films- both Old and New. Box Sets, of again, thousands of Series. How many times have you Thought 'If Only I Had a Couple Of Months Off'. So get the Children's Room wallpapered, Fix that Bl--dy Pipe!

Finally 'complete' the Outside Electrics and that Pipework! Empty the Compost Bin- every YEAR, they recommend.... Not 'Once In a Lifetime'. Get Aunt Flo's old Dresser Varnished, so you CAN actually 'use it'. Ian's Bike STILL needs a New Tyre, and Saddle... and 'that' Tilly Lamp, the one you Promised Bob you would Fix Up....

Then there is the Open University Course, you remember? You and Anne were going to 'do', before the Queen's Silver Jubilee (1977). Remember how, you said, 'Making A Straw Donkey' was easy? Now is your chance.

Maybe 'Write A Funny Rhyme, If You Have The Time. It Could Be Full Of Style And Wit, Or Perhaps It Will Be A Pile Of....erm....ah... RUBBISH! Maybe a Story, something you 'Always' wanted to write about. Finish Sowing 'that' Curtain Rail, it's only FOURTEEN years since you Started it!

I may have Exaggerated, for Comic effect, but there Really ARE Dozens of 'Things' to do.... Not least the Washing....

Hi AndrewT,Thanks so much for your post - it came at the perfect time for me.

I have been trying to keep myself as busy as I can manage since the first lockdown, despite health issues deteriorating like so many people. However, my "hobbies" etc have taken a down turn and I'm trying to do what I can with pacing in mind.

After watching the news tonight about yet another covid mutation been found regardless of trying to be as upbeat as I could be till now....I did find myself thinking "Whatever now and how long does this go on for"!

So seeing your post tonight was a reality check for me - so many different things to do and attempt and I am sure it will be spring before I know it. I am also focussing on my eagerly awaited greenhouse and my pile of packets or seeds to be started off and as you can see, my mood has already lifted.

Many thanks again x

You are sooooo right. I was making a list of things to do only yesterday! I do better when I can check things off and see progress. 👍👍

Hi Andrew

Love your post and you are spot on, I have mending I should have done months ago (sewing that is) but haven't bothered. I have to admit a lot of my days have been taken up with exercise and cooking, the exercise has certainly kept me going.

You are so right, we are not alone, there is everyone on here, the internet etc etc, we can also pick up the phone and call our friends and family and also speak to them on Zoom if we wish.

I hope that your day tomorrow goes well.

Alicia 👍

That was great Andrew!! Thank you!!One thing that has not and has happened. I've not been able to meet my friends for lunch since end of Feb!!! This has meant I've made lots more phone calls and the calls lasting half an hour or more like they did when I was younger!!! I remember sitting on the stairs just to the right of the hall gassing away to my friends, I must have been about 15+🤣😂 at least I use my son only mobile now so it does make it cheaper than if I used the landline all the time!! How many of you still have a landline?!?! We do ,as I have about 3 friends who only use landlines!!!

Merry Christmas to you and your Mum

Love Lynne and Dave xx🎄🌲

Actually I STILL have a Landline, with BT, who provide my Broadband, Digi-Box and Netflix... thanks to a Very Helpful Lady, who sorted this 'all out' for me. Yes I DO have a mobile, a very 'simple' one.....

Have a Lovely Christmas, you two.
