The meaning of Lockdown and Ramadan for those living alone

I would like to thank all of those who have shown me great kindness and support.

As I am on my own it can be hard mentally to cope with trying cope with our religious decree and the loneliness brought on by Lock Down

Ramadan purifies and concentrates our faith and as I explained to an Uncle yesterday that the ideals and principles of Islam namely mercy and compassion should apply to our every day lives after Ramadan

I realise I have mental health issues as the majority of my Fathers side of the Family have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and now I realise that this is why my anxiety is exacerbated by an elderly and demanding Mother who sometimes I wonder realises how I struggle with coping with my own every day life

Covid 19 can teach us to be kinder and more compassionate towards one another and in our religion we are taught God helps those who help themselves

I remember a famous line from an Englander: I shall not topple!

Said with such conviction that you wouldn’t even think of trying.

Stay strong.

It seems that you have learnt a lot about yourself which can help to understand our personal internal conflict. I'm glad you managed to speak with your uncle.

I really do hope people learn to be kinder and more compassionate as lessons needs to learnt from this situation we all find ourselves in and some good needs to come from this.

I hope you enjoy your day.

Thank you for your reply

It is true trying to understand how internal issues can impact on our way of coping

I hope you keep safe and well

Are you hopeful that Lock Down can improve the way people behave in terms of compassion and kindness

Yes I am hopeful. It would be criminal if people revert back to how we were living. There needs to be more regard for animals and the planet. Although I do believe that we must start with ourselves. So we should live our lives in accordance with the changes we want to see in the world.

Time and the realities of a Post Lock Down World will determine the type of society we live in

You are so right Roukaya. I think this year of Covid-19 will be seen in years to come as almost like an evolutionary change in how we conduct our work and interact socially. That's the impact 2020 has had globally on the World. Of course, I feel very sorry for those who have lost loved ones but I feel positive for the future outcome of a post Covid World. On another point, some illnesses run in families. So if you parents had heart disease it puts you at a greater risk of developing it and the same goes for mental health. If you broke an arm, you wouldn't leave it untreated, you would get treatment and mental health is the same. They are all conditions that require medical treatment in order to heal. It is true, when we help ourselves good things start to happen. I hope Ramadan is going well and I think is really good you have spoken to family members. I hope you have a great day. I hope you manage to get out for a walk as the weather is so fine today. 👍🌸🌷

Good morning

I hope you are safe and well

Can you please explain what you mean by dedication and forthrightness

How are you

How are you managing your time ?

Hi Roukaya,

Despite all of your difficulties, I think that you, and all others who have faced self isolation alone are doing really well. It's no small thing to have isolation forced upon you. Sure hermits do it, but they chose that, and you didn't. So always be kind to yourself and congratulate yourself for getting this far. Every day you face on your own brings you closer to the day when you will be able to begin to mix in the world again. Stay strong! 🙏

Realising the problem is the first step to sorting it out. It's good that you're getting some help with your mental health. Just take one day at a time and be kind to yourself.

Thank you

I think I am finding Ramadhan by myself quite lonely

But this is how it is meant to be

But in this process I have learnt that Mental Health is an illness which is just a pervasive as a Physical illness

I realise we can never go back but forwards with greater insight

Well said, Roukaya,

Although not Muslim myself, I try to live that way.

Cheers, Midori

How are you settling in your new home

We are doing OK; my son started putting together my bedroom chests and got a sore hand with the amount of pressure he was putting on the screwdriver, so I found him a gardening glove to help ease it, Its very red and may blister.

Unfortunately I no longer have the strength, but I can still hold the screws and sort out the little bits.

I'm busy getting to war with the slugs in the garden. You wouldn't think that a fully paved garden would have them, but they have popped up all over the place! Not my favourite creature. Perhaps I need to find a hedgehog!

I hope you are having a good day.

Cheers, Midori
