Tinned Buddha

β€’28 Replies

Today's crafting project's finally completed. The entire sitting room is covered in craft clutter from paper, paint, glitter, hot foiling equipment snips of paper, scissors, printers, to hot glue guns and embossing powders and I'm covered in glue and paint, but what an all-absorbing and fun day it's been.

My project. A little Buddha travel shrine in a 1oz tobacco tin I bought online. So that I can pop it in even the smallest bag or case when I'm travelling. So this was one for me.

But I guess there are so many things you can put in a tin. I'm thinking Winnie-the_Pooh, (my daughter's favourite) and Alice in Wonderland for my granddaughter. And only your imagination is the limit. You can buy whole sets of tins for only a few pounds. You could even create a scene or collage from your own photos.

Oh well, now for the clean-up. Not my favourite bit!

They're lovely. Such a good idea and very beautiful. Well done. I am only creative with language, so I do admire 'crafty' people. πŸ™‚πŸŒΈ

its beautiful. it must have been hard to cut out all the tiny bits.

β€’ in reply toGillyflower18

Thank you! The cutting was a wee bit challenging but it was only Buddha. The Om symbol and lotus were hot foiled onto card and stuck down in the lid. It was such fun though! Winnie-the-Pooh here we come! πŸ˜€

There's such satisfaction when involved in creative activities. Your latest project is great and as you say, tins have so many uses. Over the years I have enjoyed many crafts and the tidying up bit is the worst part. One friend of mine has a large house with a number of bedrooms. When the children left home she fitted out one of the bedrooms into a craft room with shelves and labelled boxes along one wall. Her art easel and sewing machine could now be left out permanently. She could also just close the door on the "mess"! Bliss!Xxx

β€’ in reply toRoadRunner44

Oh I would love that Roadrunner! Bliss as you say to just be able to shut the door in it when I was finished! πŸ˜„

That's fab!I love crafting but never come across this idea before. It's given me an ideas for presents. It could be a good way of recycling things as well. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Thank you Mandy and your tins sound so lovely too. I love the idea of the sun and moon one. It sounds like something I could copy! I love little tins and boxes. I can't have too many. Thank you for taking a moment in your 'time out' to reply. I really appreciate it. πŸ’–

Hi I will take photos of my boxes there packed away in mam's loft I'm having a break until Xmas Eve I'll post that I'm back I am PM contact with a lady in another site the drink free site as I used to binge drink when upset as you know and I've been close to that lately,i was in lot pain with my head and stress and I got pixie going mad now too he's jealous of me been on here, the lady I mentioned may be coming on here she said we seem real close and as she's from California said not local to her, I explained I felt like that like I don't know anyone and I just gradually did well it was quick really as of pixie photos then my park pictures and now I have regular friends a certain few particularly as bonded up with as have similar interests and or in or was same line of work, and I like that you are very spiritual and like the Buddhism philosophies I just wish I had a local class as that really helps change your mind set on how things are, Jerry is the main one I confide in on here take care πŸ’›πŸŒŸxxx

That would be lovely Mandy. I'll look forward to seeing those. One of the nicest things about our community and all of the communities at HealthUnlocked is that it's a safe place to connect with others who share life's challenges with us, and it's really nice that you've found someone compatible to chat with. I'm glad you've found someone for you!Yes spirituality is important to me too. Spirituality of all kinds, and it's just that Buddhism works especially well for me.

Hidden 's a great support isn't he and it's good to know that the two of you get on so well.πŸ‘πŸ™

Hi again did you my post last Monday as I left on Friday came back Monday a Xmas card for all my friends I'm sorry I can't remember everyone who replied my head's not been right and you know about my sleep problem pixies locked in kitchen for few hours he came up last night and slept right through thank god he's like a baby xx

β€’ in reply to

Yes Mandy I did see your post and I know you can't keep tabs on everyone who has commented, when there are lots of responses. That's fine, just so long as you feel supported. I know that Pixie takes up a lot of your life but that's fine too. Our furry friends are a big part of our lives and even though sometimes they get their own way far too much we certainly wouldn't want to be without them. Hope you have a good day and take care! πŸ™πŸ™

They are beautiful x

Thanks Hylda!πŸ‘

Hi Callendersgal. Not been in touch for a while - sorry. Had an enquiry from lell1 to see how I was 12 months after losing mom to dementia, and I thought I should come back and see if any of my experiences can now help others. I also saw your beautiful craft tins and was stunned. It is so important to have hobbies and crafting is a wonderful way to chill out and 'get in the zone', and helps to focus on positives rather than the negatives in our lives when caring, especially during the pandemic. My craft of choice is cross stitch, but whilst I was able to have a bubble here, my friend and I have been doing a variety of crafts together once a week. We have made Christmas cards using old cards which are too lovely to not live on again, adding bows and borders and sparkles, and last week painted jars to make Christmas lanterns. Sadly Wales' lockdown has stopped this for a while, but we have booked a coffee and phone chat tomorrow instead. I would encourage anyone to try a craft during lockdown and the extraordinary times we are living through, even if it means learning something new, and would also recommend taking a peak at Futurelearn as they have a huge variety of free online courses to try - I am hoping to sign up to do one in genealogy. Sending my best to all carers and those who are battling their problems bravely, and I am here if I can help with dementia related issues. May you be able to enjoy Christmas however you are spending it, and look forward with us all to a better, brighter and hopefully Covid free 2021.

Really lovely t see you back XSitch38! Sometimes we do need to take a break from things and are all the better for it when we come back! And you had the biggest of reasons with the loss of your mum. I can't quite believe it was a year ago! How have you been? Thanks for a lovely positive post and for your kind comments on my crafting efforts. And for promoting the message that crafting can be really absorbing and huge fun.

My tiny flat is crammed with crafting things, new and repurposed, and my husband has stopped rolling his eyes when I come home with something else I found that might come in useful for craft!

It is so difficult for various groups of all sorts to stay in touch just now, so I'm glad your crafters have found a way!

And I absolutely endorse all that you said not only on the topic of crafting but of Christmas too. I hope we can all find some way to enjoy a little of this season which has hope at its real roots! Take care and Merry Christmas. πŸ™πŸ’–πŸŽ„
