Had bowel cancer op. some 10 years ago. Am I correct in saying besides the normal test during the first 5 years. It is necessary to have a colonoscopy or some form of investigation after 10 years??

Thank you for your advice Mydexter...have taken up your suggestion and now await responses. Take care
Glad you are going to the bowel site, but wanted to ask if you are screened regularly. I had liver ca in 2002, and they still screen for liver abnormalities even though it has been 17+ years! If you are experiencing something that concerns you, please contact your doc and get the ball rolling.
Take care of you!
Talk to your Doctor, I would imagine further tests may be taken over time especially if you are getting on. I had suffered burning regards medications about seven years ago and they did follow a testing regime. That seems to have dropped away, they found fissures and Piles, I changed my diet and we eat more fruit and vegetables now than we did in the past.
The problem with bowel cancer is to keep a watch especially if you are getting older.
Get checked out, your doctor may send you in. I find the use of sedation is a good idea when doing these tests

I had my op in 2014, was told should have colonoscopies every 3 years, but was signed off from St George's last year, but I did have a 'poo test' last month that I had requested. You can ask for one to be mailed to you even if you are 'out if the age range'.
