I had a heart attack, on the 5th of October, that makes 3 now. Luckily I sleep with my phone, I went to the toilet and could not breath, I sat my self down but things got to the point were I new I was having a heart attack, as it was exactly the same feeling as the previous ones just like some one sitting on my chest. I called the Para Medics and was taken to A and E, that took 45 mins from phoning to being in A and E. I was gasping for air, turned out my lungs were full with water. I was drained and could breath again. The usual thing they took bloods and confirmed a heart attack. A angioplasty then followed 2 more stents, and 10 days in Hospital. Now I have to start rehab all over again.
The moto is take your phone to bed with you, if it was on the charger I would not of been able to make the call to the Para Medics. Still living God bless the NHS.

I feel for you, it is awful if you are on your own and I'll, sounds like you might be. 111 do not take any notice of any of my physical health problems as I have mental health problems first. I clapped for the energency services And all key workers, but of course it is worse to actually have a heart attack than heart pain. I would not want to swap places with you as am used to dealing with my mental health problems. Hope you feel better soon And take care.
Thanks catblue1865, You are rite I do live on my own. Its scary when you get chest pains your never sure what it is. Luckily I have had attacks before and was fairly sure. My moto is don't take chances phone for help.
Hello I am sorry you had to go through that, my mam has 2 mobiles as back up as she had 2 heart attacks a stent and a angiaplast next to the stent as they couldn't do a stent as too close it's the main heart artery she has very narrow veins 81 and follows a strict anti inflammation diet and low saturated fat foods and low sugar, to help keep the cholesterol away she had a gap of about 4 years and all was ok she had built her confidence up then out the blue the symptoms came back we think it was stress this time which also causes inflammation in the body which causes blocks. Maby you should get a spare mobile our phones our our life lines as you say I hope you feel better soon 💐
My stress called my heart attack, my Mother died on the 4th of October and I had my attack on the 5th she was 90 years old. My attack was at the same time 0045, as my Mother died but one day later.
Sorry to hear this AndtH and thankfully your phone was at hand and you where able to obtain swift treatment. I am glad you are home and can start your rehab. The stents will be doing their job so you should not have anymore problems, take thinks easy. 👍😊
Can I ask, you live alone? It worries the hell out of me that I’m and something like that would happen
Hi CornishGent, I do live alone and have for 14 years. I recognized the symptoms and phoned the Para Medics, they don't hang about if you tell them you have had heart attacks before. Always keep your phone charged for the the night in bed. I charge mine 2 hours before bed time. Look after your self, Andy
I had blood clots in my lungs back in 2017 and I had dragged myself into a and e on the bus and they kept me in overnight on the respiratory ward for observation and had sent me home the following evening after dinner.
I was terrified though as I hadn't known that was festering away but I know the signs now and they did an ecg at a and e and a chest X ray and a CT scan and blood tests and they gave me a heparin injection in a and e and I was in a and e all day and got taken to the ward about 11pm.
It is scary when you can not breath, I pleaded for a drain to be put in, which they did in the end, the relief was amazing. Stay safe, Andy
Well done for getting through that scary episode AndtH. It's a very good point you raise about keeping your phone with you. It can be a lifesaver in so many situations. I'm glad you've come through again, and please continue with your rehab and take all medical advice given!
Thank you for your kind words. Rehab is different now they phone you and you keep to the plan and write a diary and Email it or scan it and send it in. The Covid is making a mess in more ways than can be mentioned. I had 3 tests for Covid in 10 days, until the first results came back it was mask, visor and plastic apron and when you can not breath and hurt its a pain. May I say how wonderful the Nurses and Doctors are, I never wanted for anything.
Since my back surgery 2 years ago I have Careline which puts my mind at rest. I wear it around my neck, can shower with it and also leave it on me during the night when asleep. Also living on my own, this is such a comfort to have this arrangement (through the local Council). And what is important for me, I do a lot of gardening, and should I fall or feel unwell, I press the button and help will come. Nobody around here would hear me calling for help. So AndtH, I can highly recommend this. You can also wear it as a bracelet. All the best to you and I wish you a complete recovery.
Hi Lola2003, I know of these things, my Mother had one as she was always falling. She was 90 years old. Thing is she would take it off for what reason I don't know, and of course she could not remember where she put it, we used to find it in all kinds of places, bless her. If you feel safe with your Careline it stops you worrying and your more relaxed, hence less accidents. Andy
Yes that's good advice, having a phone by the bed, makes sense, I keep my phone with me in the night just in case. I've never needed to make that call but it could be a life saver. Just a thought though, it's OK to make that call but that means you would have to leave the front door open so paramedics can get in to you, unless you could let them in and it might not be possible to get to door. Am I over thinking this.
Hi jayne17, I have a key out side in a key lock on my door. I can tell the 999 people and they inform them. If I have passed out they will gain entry with brute strength. Get a key safe they cost next to nothing and are very strong. But don't worry they will get to you. Andy
