I dont often post on here, however I do enjoy reading other posts on this forum. It's a great place to share good news....and bad (with the hope of some support). Some recent posts I haven't enjoyed and though I believe in the power of freedom of speech, I choose not to express my strong opinions about my Christian faith. I do this because I know not all people will enjoy, agree, disagree etc, and mainly because it's a forum for wellbeing and positivity and my views and opinions can provoke very strong reactions. With this in mind, I'm aware it could raise stress levels in some, and I dont need to 'force' my beliefs on others, I'm comfortable with my faith. I will be honest and say I dont enjoy seeing 'philosophical' false 'teachings' or whatever you want to call them and truly hope everyone can be 'mindful' of others thoughts, beliefs, views, opinions etc...let's keep this forum peaceful, fun, enjoyable and supportive for all! Love and blessings all π

Welcome to you And hear hear!! xx
Welcome!
I've been thinking exactly the same thing over the past few days. Well said.
As I posted here recently, I wouldn't be inclined to dismiss philosophical teachings as false teachings, as I was Directed towards them by a devout member of a religious order.
One can follow them, I feel side by side with religious beliefs if you wish.. They seem to carry a wise and kind message.
I don't want an argument either. I feel we can take positivity from whatever source as long as it helps us.
My mum had serious mental health problems . She had a lot of acceptance and support from the church . It isn't all about being highly religious . These were kind and genuine people . My sisters partner now retired used to help - before Covid at a church lunch club . This is a vital service for the community . I wish people weren't so black and white and saw the church for the good it does. I don't follow any faith myself but would be happy to help out any religious group if they needed a hand .
Thank you Artnmusiclover, you raise some good points. I think that it's not about the set of beliefs people hold but the way they practice them. In the end it's about showing kindness, acceptance and compassion to others- no matter what what one's belief is. Unfortunately this pandemic had shown one of my friends to be very bigoted and dogmatic about the vaccine roll out. She says she's alternative and anti - authority and up until now I valued her differing perspective, how ironic then that she should take such a pushy and authoritarian approach to me telling me that I "shouldn't get vaccinated"! I I have met many nice Christians including members of the local church who really helped me when I first moved here.......and also been bullied by someone who boasts that she is a mindfulness teacher because I don't do it "properly"!!?? I didn't think it was possible! So like I say I think it depends on the person not their creed!
Sorry to hear you felt bullied, no-one should be made to feel that way...sending love π
Yes, it definitely depends on the person Hidden ..I could say a lot more about the mindfulness 'quotes' but it would mean me airing views that others wont accept, turning the forum into a highly charged debate π I think its possible to have peace in just knowing you believe what you believe and feeling comfortable with it ....focused1 , yes acceptance is key, not religious bombardment...nobody likes being forcefully fed and respect for all is a wonderful trait π
This is so refreshing to my ears! Can't agree with you more, thank you!
Hear hear Artnmusiclover, I couldn't have said it any better. x
I keep my faith to myself, as it usually attracts trolls. That said, I enjoy talking with folk of all faiths.
"I'm comfortable with my faith. I will be honest and say I dont enjoy seeing 'philosophical' false 'teachings' or whatever you want to call them..."
Your post seems to suggest that only Christianity is "true", and all other ideologies are "false", which therefore negates your desire for everyone to be "mindful" of other's beliefs. Maybe rethink what you wrote, then.
I'm not implying that in the slightest and I am extremely non-judgemental and tolerant of all, I apologise if it's been taken that way. My main point was that I keep it off the forum and after being 'inundated' with posts of that nature, I wanted to ask if others can respect that and do the same, as they probably wouldn't enjoy seeing an influx of Christian type posts I may want to share.
That's fine, but since you lead your post with "I am a peace-loving Christian" it begs the question why put that first? Why not just make a nice, friendly post that we are all individuals here who vary in their ideologies? I'll tell you my perspective, and maybe it's not fair, but you felt you had to lay claim to being Christian before all else, and also took the space to state how you dislike reading about other philosophical "false" teachings. Maybe I am misunderstanding your meaning? If I am, then I apologize. But that's what it looks like you are saying here, and if it looks that way to one, I'm certain others will take it as I have, and in fact, it can be hurtful to people who are not Christian. I think you meant well, but this is problematic.
I very much agree with the sentiment of your post and I applaud you for being brave enough to raise the subject. I understand where you are coming from and I am sure many others do too.
Your post was polite and respectful to others whilst expressing your views.
Teachings of any faiths or specific lifestyles might be best in a forum specifically for that topic as it allows people to solely focus on that very subject.
Absolutely happytulip ..I agree (can't click on like, must be tech glitch)
I am not a Christian and found no offence in your post - in fact the opposite.Agree with happytulip.
I'm so glad you weren't offended Hidden , that's the last thing I intended (won't let me like)
How so? Claiming to be a peace-loving Christian while simultaneously negating other faiths as "false" is hypocritical at best. I'm not being "argumentative" either, just stating a fact.
Yes, I'm sure the last thing I think we all want on here is arguments, I agree with that
I totally agree, hence my post...I was tired of seeing posts of that nature everyday and that is the point I'm making
Yes the same happened to me π x
Ditto
I suppose you are referring to me. I am not a troll, and am uninterested in arguing. I am merely trying to make a point and it's not going well because some people are inherently defensive.
Absolutely Hidden ..I cant like your comment (won't let me click) but totally agree π
I agree with you π I love everybody no matter what they believe in or not believe in if everyone was respectful to each other the world would be a better place
