Hi and welcome to the group, nosher ,

Here are some websites/links for both the DRWF and DI groups on HU that are related to Diabetes. The leaflets from the DRWF website are free to download/listen to and/or read at anytime. Please show the information leaflets to your doctor at your next appointment.

Do you count carbs. for each meal and/or snack? Did your doctor suggest a low carb high fat or low carb. high protein diet?

Go onto the A/Z Index page and look under D, I understand there is a site on Health unlocked.

I am a Diabetic 2 Patient as is my Wife. What are your problems ???

It is a bit confusing. I have been type 2 for twenty years. Always relatively well managed on Glucophage only and recently found 750 mgm daily was enough. For the last two weeks or so I find my BS drops an hour after breakfast and I feel dizzy, etc, Not an alarming drop down around 88-90. I have been sleeping a lot and Monday I will call my MD. I know those are not alarming figures but I usually cruise around 108 to 112. I know the MD will say 90 is good but unless I load up with carbs. I feel dizzy, shaky with mild blurred vision.. I do not feel it is life threatening but I would like to feel better. Has anyone had the same reactions.?

My bloods are generally 127/86 after resting

I have a square of chocolate when feeling dizzy, especially if my blood sugar is low.

I do not take medications although I do have strips if needed. My problem is overweight.

My problem is we both eat alot of fruit. I also every now and then like a beer and a dram.

My GP knows and I am ok I gather Are you on your Statins etc ?

yes, I t,too, am overweight. On a low dose of statins and a blood-pressure drug. i guess, maybe, I need less glucophage, Hard to regulate lately. Could be age, I am 86 but a pretty alert and active 86 (thank G-d}. Not now, of course with shelter-in-place. I fall asleep whenever I watch tv and feel like a slug. Could be worse.

I am seventy is several months and as we get older, like you, We nod off especially in the evening. So you are not alone. I try and remain active on here and in the garden although I am now suffering because I am restricted because of Chronic Disabilities.

Stick around you may pick up on similar minded people.

thank you. I need to refresh my knowledge about the disease. that is helpful.

Hi nosher,

In view of your response to borderiever about your recent dizziness, I'd advise getting in touch with your GP surgery, either to speak to a doctor, or, if it has one, your diabetic nurse. After all, though it very likely is diabetes related, you can't be sure unless you speak to a medically qualified person, and you shouldn't be taking any chances, especially at the moment, when perhaps diabetics may not be monitored on their usual schedule. (For instance, my husband's diabetes check has been put on hold until September, and that's fine if you are feeling well, but it's clear that something is not quite as usual with you). Take care, and do have a look at the HealthUnlocked diabetes communities, as others have suggested, but only after you've had professional advice first. Take good care.

Thank you for responding. I do have a call in to my physician. I expect him to call me back tomorrow, he is really good in that way. The only reason I feel it is my diabetes is that the dizziness and nausea get resolved when I eat something sweet. My BS are different also with swings .especially at night. We shall see what he recommends. I hate going out for any tests but I go to a lab that will come to the car nd draw bnlood once they take your temp. I have been lucky so far, no serious episodes and other than neuropathy no serious side effects. I hate to bother the MD during this busy time but as the British so charmingly say "needs must". Thank you all for your advice. Be well and stay safe,

Hi again nosher,

I'm really glad to hear that. I completely understand why you don't want to bother your MD at this very busy time, but if we don't keep our other various ailments under control too, it will cause serious backlogs for them in future and we may endanger ourselves too. So please don't feel that you are being a burden on medical services. In the longer term you will not only be helping yourself, but your MD too! Take care and I hope you get this resolved very soon.

I have diabetes 2 and I don't use any medicine. I treat it by eating "the right" food (like fish and chicken) and exercise. The Swedish NHS gives me foot care almost free and exercise like circle training in a gym for older people -I am 82. During the Covid-19 I take a half hour walk each day along a brook in a park near us. I can walk without getting close to other persons as the path is wide. As you may know, Sweden has not locked down completely.

Last year I attended a free national Health Service course, spread over 9 months. This was most helpful as we learned what foods to eat/avoid & the huge importance of a low carbs diet in reversing/managing Type 2 Diabetes. A very useful recipe book is 'The 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book' by Dr Claire Bailey. Claire is a GP & wife of Michael Moseley. Michael is often on TV & was himself diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. He was able to reverse it by diet & exercise as can most people with this type of diabetes. A useful website is.....thebloodsugardiet.com Hope this helps.

Thank you. I woke up this morning determined to get on top of this, You have all been so helpful. I have been too complacent as things were going well. A walk would be great but I also have an acute flareup of achilles tendonitis. Amazon prime has a program called sit and be fit. Just did a half hour. It is good for those who can not get out or do normal exercise for awhile. Thank you, everybody. I am on it!!
