Produce in my planters

β€’50 Replies

Hi all

Hope you've all had a good day.

We had light rain and mist here this morning and then it brightened up this afternoon so I cut the grass. I couldn't go out on my bike or a powerwalk as for some unknown reason my tummy has been playing up, first time in quite a while.

I thought I'd take photos of my dwarf bean, potato, beetroot and carrot plants (the carrots are just coming up so you may just be able to see them).

Have a good evening.

Thank you Jerry and the only thing I can think of is the recent heat as my diet has been fine, I monitor everything I eat.

Oh I bet those Runners were good, you can't beat freshly picked and you know where they came from. You do have a lovely neighbourhood.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

The nature of the beast of IBS but my tummy will settle soon.

I do hope so. My IBS goes from IBS c to IBS d. Doesn't help with my other conditions though. Lots of love and hugs Lynne xxxx β€οΈπŸ’œ

Oh my goodness Lynne, you're amazing on how you handle your conditions.

Mine is predominantly IBS D now, used to be C which I found easier, I also get nausea with it, that's what I struggle with,I hate feeling sick.

You are awesome though.

Same here that is my achilles heel and sometimes can run my life. I am not very good with direction but usually know where the public washrooms or real dense bush are from point A to point B lol. Covid has put a damper on that though. I hate being in pain and afraid to go out. How they can call IBS D a functional disorder has no clue.

β€’ in reply toscotsrish

I'm so sorry for you. IBS D isn't functional at all, you can't go out unless there are toilets. Fortunately during lockdown the local beach on my powerwalk/run (that's if my system let me run) had one toilet open the whole time and was always free, it was a lifesaver.

I'm so sorry for your pain.

β€’ in reply toscotsrish

Hi

It definitely isn't a functional disorder !! They don't have a clue. Mine goes from IBS d to IBS c plus other thingsπŸ€—πŸŒˆ

Hope you feel better soon. The plants look like they are doing amazingly well in the containers. My 5 year old grandson stayed over last night. I have been drained today. He played football till 7.30 last night. I just watch but was standing in the heat. He said to me, I like it here I might come to live. I was laughing. 😁πŸ₯•πŸ₯•πŸ₯¦

β€’ in reply tobobbybobb

Thank you Bobby, it'll get better soon, I think it might be a reaction to the intense heat we had, not so much the sun but the bad air quality.

The plants are doing very well, I'm really pleased.

How lovely to have your grandson but I'm so sorry you've been drained, I really hope you do manage to get some sleep tonight.

Aww bless him, think it might be hard work having a 5 year old to come and live with youπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸŒˆπŸ™

Aww, children are fab!! You never know what they are going to do or say next!! Think you need to rest for the at least the next couple of days!! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Šxxxx

With me I feel it's too much of a happy accident that my stomach problems have improved a lot since I left that toxic job last year.

Since March I have had a couple of episodes brought on by things I have eaten but nothing like it was at the toxic job.

I also feel it's no happy accident that since I left that place I am a totally different person.

β€’ in reply to

Anxiety and stress are very bad for the tummy. I'm racking my brains on what food it could be but I think it might be the weather we had i.e. the intense heat and bad air quality.

Food can certainly play havoc with our tummies and so can stress.

I'm really pleased you feel so much better.😊

β€’ in reply to

I don't think the heat helps matters myself and I had to cut down the length of my workouts last week as it was a bit much.

Been out this afternoon in the rain.

β€’ in reply to

I'm so pleased you feel better. It must have been a huge relief to get away from that toxic job. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx β€οΈπŸ’œ

It was a tough decision to make though and I didn't make it on a whim it was made over a number of months after there had been an incident at the start of 2019 when they wouldn't give me a couple of hours off unpaid which had been the final blow there as there had been other incidents of a similar nature to that which had gone before and that incident had been the final blow!

I tried to make things work by cutting my hours and also changing them as well but they didn't help and it was one Friday in October when things had come to a head and I had decided to make the decision to leave off my own accord and that incident that Friday had sealed the deal as I had been unsure for months but after that carry on enough was enough so I had been on holiday and had sent them an e mail of resignation!

One colleague had said to me didn't they try to talk you out of it and I said no they hadn't and she had said that's charming and said how I was better off out of the place after she had comforted me when I was in tears after having to sign a leavers form that morning and told that I had taken too much holiday and would have to pay it back and it wasn't the money that upset me it was the attitude that did!

Anyway I did get the money back eventually in the form of a tax rebate but had to wait for it.

That evening I had cried down the phone to one of my friends who had been very kind and said how that kind of behaviour showed their true colours and another friend had told me that I should have given the line manager a slap after having done that!

Another friend of mine says about their attitude there how where there's no sense there's no feeling which is very true.

On my leaving day quite a few colleagues had cried and I had cried myself after I was well off the premises after I had my door pass taken off me in the main entrance in front of everyone as that wasn't nice.

For a few months although I was relieved to be away from the place I went through a grieving process but now I am loads better and have accepted it and now it's finding something else and my next interview is in 2 weeks time just before bank holiday.

You have done so well, it takes courage to leave a job but you did it !!! You should be proud of yourself. It looks like others aren't happy either!!

Lots of love Lynne β€οΈπŸŒˆπŸ’žπŸ€—

β€’ in reply to

There was another colleague there who management had really had it out for as well and she had gone sick for a year with stress and had ended up getting sacked for having been sick and there was another one who they had it out for who had ended up dying of lung cancer when she was only 53!

They had threatened me with all kinds of things just to bully and control me so I had decided I would take control of my departure from the place as I wasn't giving them the satisfaction of sacking me for silly reasons and that's what I did left off my own accord and I feel now it was the right decision to leave and the only thing I regret is not having done it sooner.

β€’ in reply to

These people sound absolutely horrible, no wonder you left!! It's very sad that your friend sadly died of lung cancer .

And your other friend being sacked for being poorly. Absolutely awful.

Love and hugs Lynne xxxx β€οΈπŸ€—πŸŒˆπŸ’œ

β€’ in reply to

There was another colleague as well who they sacked for being sick.

Firstly he got redeployed from where he worked originally to another department and then was poorly again and was off for ages and they sacked him for having been off sick as well!

Back in June we were having Chinese delivered and there he was at the front door as he has got himself an evening job as a delivery driver at a Chinese and he said to me well done for having resigned off my own accord and wished he had done it himself!

I feel I will go to a place that's right for me when I am good and ready for it!

I did end up walking out of the place on my last day there with my head held high as I had wanted to have done!

Quiet day today as I had a stomach upset earlier on which I suspect was caused by the Pepsi max I drunk last night as we had a video night at home so I won't buy that again.

With me if I was manager I would have given the couple of hours off unpaid and tell the member of staff to work it back when they returned then hopefully no one would have been unhappy!

Snowdrops_17 profile image
Snowdrops_17β€’ in reply to

Yep precisely!πŸ’―πŸ§

Hope you intestine settles again soon, and stay off MR MAXI 🦾

β€’ in reply toSnowdrops_17

I think Pepsi max upsets a lot of peoples stomachs and coke zero.

One of my friends who used to be a manager had said how it was beyond her why they hadn't tried to have talked me out of resigning as with her there had been arguments and things and people had handed her notice letters and she would just keep them in her office and wait until the member of staff had cooled off and often they would say to her how now they had calmed down they realised that they had been hasty in handing her that letter and could they stay and she would say yes they could as she hadn't accepted the letter anyway and would tear them up and throw them out!

She said how she thought herself management there were petty and mean in begrudging someone a couple of hours off and she would have given it and say about working the time back on their return.

I'm ok with sun heat, it's the bad air quality that I found hard, it's been fresher today fortunately.

β€’ in reply to

It's been humid here in Cardiff today but the air is a lot fresher than it has been lately.

β€’ in reply to

I do love the sun but it's been good that it's fresher.

I find that some of us are so sensitive to bacteria, even if it is nothing to most people, that our colon goes spazz. The mind gut connection re stress. Also after a few days of bad IBS D comes depression.

β€’ in reply toscotsrish

We certainly are and mine was through food poisoning.

There is definitely a connection re stress and the gut and it's the nausea with the IBS D is struggle with. I'm much better today though.

What wonderful healthy crops! So impressive. I too grow some if my own vegetables organically with a lot of help and nothing beats harvesting your own home grown, and then cooking them straightaway.

Totally agree, you grow your own and you know exactly where they've come from, couldn't be better.πŸŒ±πŸŒ±πŸ™πŸ˜Š

Just proves you don't need a huge plot to grow delicious veg. Nothing beats it. We are producing so fast with heatwave and now storms, we are giving loads away and leaving stuff in village church porch.

β€’ in reply todiana1998

It really does and our earth was very poor and it's great to have planters, so easy to look after. That's fantastic that you've had so much. I bet people are thrilled to receive your veg.🌈😊🌱
