Good morning everyone,
I just read a really thoughtful post from Snowdrops_17 about the dangers of returning to work, versus the need to do so, and I also watched a news item about how much revenue The Tower of London is losing due to lack of visitors. Naturally we're very nervous of venturing out when we don't need to.
So today I'm returning to the subject of courage for my quotation, as we try to summon up the courage to get out and about again.
This one's from L Frank Baum who wrote the 14 'Oz' books which evolved into 'The Wizard of Oz' movie. This is from one of the books.
" 'You have plenty of courage I'm sure,' answered Oz. 'All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty.' "
I don't think it's true to say that we all have equal amounts of courage or that some of us don't have really good reasons not to put ourselves in extra danger, but it is true to say that some people have no option but to put themselves in harm's way. Our NHS and support services did so throughout the pandemic and now it's falling on all sorts of other workers to get back to business, and on us as consumers too, to try to forge some kind of normality that's safe for us.
Hoping you all have a happy and safe Friday.
