The Enigma code was a piece of cake compared to this !!

I have a cousin who was a medical researcher - and he told me that the way to write a medical research paper was to make it so complicated that no-one could understand it enough to criticise it!
Those squiggles look like shorthand. Do doctors still write in Latin?. They used to I think.
I think they just use computers now days. πx
Of course. I'm showing my age by remembering these things.
Xπ
Showing your age?? I remember going to the doctors and they were smoking, with an ashtray on the desk full of dog ends !!πxx
I once had surgery in a hospital I had worked at as a student, knew all the hiding places. I day after surgery, I staggered down 2 flights of stairs, clutching drip bag in one hand and ciggies in the other. Came face to face, with anaesthetist from my op, smoking a cigar. I did explain to him that, as a smoker, I was usually ambulant 1 if not 2 days before his other patients. He gave up on me!!
Good morning Bazzak
I remember that, as though it were yesterday.
My old GP was a very βcool guyβ, as l entered his room he would stand up (who does that now) shake my hand, (who does that now) remove his white coat, (my GP now never wears a white coat) and offer me a cigarette! (who does that now). In those days I used to smoke (about 4/5 a day). We would sit and smoke our cigarettes and chat about everything and then l would casually mention why l was there, be treated, with my new prescription and say my thanks and leave him with his ashtray.
I wonder how many cigarettes he smoked in a day! I also wonder where he is now. Terrible habit, no longer a fashion accessory, thank goodness!
I to remember this! My dr used to say smoking kept the bugs away!! I also remember the βnitβ nurse when I was at infant school, her hands always smelt of nicotine π
I was a pharmacy dispenser, many moons ago.....drs usually, in my day, wrote very badly the name of the medication, the generic name ie Diazepam 2mg tablets, (preparatory name Valium 2mg) tablets was always used, this meant the pharmacist could use any make they had in stock as the name was never written on the label of the medication unless dr asked for it . The dosage would usually be in letters, ie t.d.s. which is Latin meaning ter dis sumendum, meaning to be taken three times a day...so the Latin was the instructions. Some of the very old doctors still used to use measurements like dr. meaning 1 dram with 16 drams (approx) equal to 1ounce, today is equal to 28 grams. We used to work in imperial measurement until metric came in.....but the older drs still used the old ways and we had to convert......we used to get used to the atrocious writing on scrips....the computer generated scripts are much better as, less of a margin for any errors. So finishes the history lessonπ€ͺ. I must admit canβt remember a drs writing to be as bad as the one above, thank goodness.
Glad I am retired now as wouldnβt want to be working through this pandemic...although have worked through many flu epidemics.....I remember the Asian flu epidemic well, as lots of staff were ill so we were extra stretched. Oh the good old days π
Some doctors I know write like this, too. Hard to believe the Pharmacist can read what the prescriptions are suppose to be and how much.
My wife was a pharmacists assistant , and as RoadRunner above said it was often in Latin, I can never beat her at quizzes!!π
What type of quizzes?
Many, you would be surprised how many words in the English language are derived from Latin, medical, biology, chemistry and more πx
Sounds fun!πππ
No, I always lose and told I'm stupid !π«xx
Thatβs not good. We know youβre smart.πππ
That's very kind β₯οΈ the wife thinks that because I was dragged up in the Poor area of London and she went to private school that she is much more intelligent. She is probably right, but I am much more Intelligent about life if you know what I mean.πx
I bet it says ' laughter is the best medicine ' π€£π€£π
I think mine wrote that Bazzak! πππ
My GP has beautifully neat handwriting... you just need a microscope to help you read it as itβs really tiny! Thanks for the giggle π
πππBrilliant. A Bletchley Park candidate if ever I saw one. x
