Chocolate Digestive Biscuits

I found a recipe in my magazine for these, hubby says they are lovely. Believe it or not I rarely eat biscuits which is a good job as I'm GF and Vegan.

Stay safe and well all.

Do you have a way to share your recipe? I'd love it.

They look so good. Is the biscuit chocolate, or just the frosting?

in reply to Nothing_but_books

Hi there, of course but if you dont mind I'll share when I'm on the main computer as I'll be able to scan the recipe.

The biscuit isn't chocolate, just the topping.😊🌈

SheepyBaaBaa profile image
SheepyBaaBaa in reply to MydogBrandy

Not exactly biscuits but quite good- I have recipes for low syn cakes like lemon drizzle which only has about 8 for whole cake. I can send that as well

SLIMMING WORLD CHEESE SCONES

Cheese scones – can also be made into little balls and eaten as a snack. They are syn free if you are following the plan as long as you have the cheese as your healthy extra.

300g chive and onion cottage cheese (or plain)

Salt and pepper to season.

2 eggs.

100g instant mash (dried powder form)

Frylight.

Whizz the cottage cheese with a hand blender, season and whizz in the 2 eggs.

Stir in the instant mash powder to make a dough like consistency.

Separate into balls and flatten.

Put on an oven tray and spray with frylight then cook on 180c for 20 mins.

They can also be jazzed up with garlic, chilli or fresh herbs. It works well with plain cottage cheese and dried chives too.

Even if you’re not on the plan these are healthy and actually tasty little snacks.

xx Enjoy!

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to SheepyBaaBaa

Ooh thanks they sound lovely, going to try them. I suppose as i can’t get out For the instant mash powder I could use ordinary mash made with Quark? Would love your lemon drizzle as well please x

Lemon Drizzle cake –

This particular recipe is only 8 syns for the entire cake

. I do mine in a loaf pan but think a square one would do as well - Enjoy

8 Servings

Prep Time: 12

Cook Time: 30 Min

Ready In: 42 Min

Ingredients

•2 lemons

•5 eggs

•45g granulated sweetener

•50g self raising flour

Directions

1.Add 30g of the sweetener and flour in a bowl

2.Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into the mix

3.Using a hand grater, zest both lemons and add the zest to the mix

4.Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Keep the whites aside, beat the yolks and add to the mixture

5.Whisk the egg whites until they are fluffy and form soft peaks. Fold into the mixture

6.Add to the cake tray

7.Bake for 20-30 minutes on 180C until golden brown, allow to cool a little

8.Mix the juice of the second lemon and 15g sweetener, pour over the top of the cake and bake for another 10 mins until the top of the cake is beautifully glazed

MydogBrandy in reply to

Thanks I will look for it. Seem to be baking for England at the moment so bored . Sure Colin will love them ,

Thanks lost 5 pounds so far in three weeks finding it a bit hard because I stopped smoking 18 months ago after 54 years. We both stopped together so have both turned to cakes, biscuits and chicolat😥

in reply to MydogBrandy

You are welcome, my hubby Jeff is enjoying them. I've not been bored as I've been out on my bike a lot, I've only been in the past couple of days so not too bad. Can't walk far though as I've injured my foot jogging - dafe me.

Well done on stopping smoking, that's excellent and well done on 5lbs lost, slower is much better than doing it too fast. My hubby also turned to sweet stuff when he gave up smoking over 30 years ago. My sister in law has just given up, 3 months ago, and she hasn't put on any weight but she's vaping but not too much. To be honest I'm not keen on the vaping that people are doing as that doesn't look safe either. My hubby chews Nicorette still and that's only because he's stressed, have you thought about chewing gum?

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

No I went cold turkey. Colin used patches after he had three year attacks. It was because we ended up in opposite beds on the cardiac ward that I decided to have my ablation and also stop smoking. Yes I agree about the vaping, to me that’s still smoking. The plus is we are saving £600 a month🤗 don’t seem to be any richer though🤣 Probably all going on baking ingredients 😂I hope your foot gets better soon . I am still taking it steady because I broke my hip in Tenerife in November so I am wary now about falling was as fit as a fiddle before that

in reply to MydogBrandy

Well done, that's amazing. I'm fortunate as I tried smoking when at school and didn't like it so that was that.

A very good decision, you think my life or smoking, no contest. My hubby Jeff was told he be dead by 40 if he didn't give up, he's asthmatic.

That's alot of money saved, how many baking ingredients are you buying😂😂.

I'm so sorry you broke your hip, difficult having to be careful all the time. Thank you, my foot is in ice cold water at present.

Take care xx🌈😊

No pain , no gain🤣😂 sorry ! I think the worst pain I ever felt was when I fell and broke my hip , it was horrendous. Worse than child birth , it has taken me 7 months to feel a lot better. Just watching Cliff Richard on tv , gosh this takes me back gosh he is 80! Remember having pictures of him up in my bedroom when I was a teenager.

stay safe Ursula xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

Love you sense of humour. Now childbirth is very painful so I can only imagine the pain breaking your hip.

Ih my goodness, 80, really, that's unbelievable. My sister had all his photos on the bedroom wall and I remember meeting him very briefly in a church.

I'm on the edge of the South Hams in Devon right on the coast, what about you? xx

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Wow that sounds beautiful, no wonder you do loads of biking. I live in Worksop Notts . On the edge of Yorkshire border , got the Yorkshire accent lol🤣 but we have a lodge on the east coast in Hornsea so we do get that sea air when we are not on lockdown.

Tell you what I think sea air does wonders for a good nights sleep. Xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

Ooh lovely, I love the North. My dad was from Durham and had a fab northern accent, I love northerners. My grandparents were from Kendal and my cousin lives on Gisburn near Clitheroe.

That's fab having a lodge, won't be long now.

Yes the sea air is good and we have the window open most nights, wind dependent. We quite often hear the waves at night. xx🌈😊💜

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Hey my Colin’s from Durham, lovely hearing the waves. We used to have a lodge near the edge of the site and could watch the ships from our conservatory , we then sold it when the grandkids came along but three years ago went back and this lodge is further back but a short 10 minute walk to the beach. Haven own the site but it is an owner only site which is nice. There s a golf club, swimming pool gymn and pamper suite so it’s lovely, home from home and we have made lovely friends up there. We were supposed to be having our golden wedding anniversary up there in two weeks time. We had everything planned, act booked etc then this flipping virus came so it all had to be cancelled😥xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

Oh my goodness, what a small world. Lodges are great, we holiday in lodges every year.

That's good that it's an opener only site, I would think so much better looked after as you all care about your own lodges. The site does have a lot.

Oh no, I'm so sorry your plans for a lovely 50th have been thwarted because of this awful virus. Our son in law's dad is getting married next year and I thought ok as it's not until September but the venue they had booked has gone bust so they dont know when it'll happen and if they'll get their money back.😒

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Oh crikey, hopefully they paid by credit card, always do this if paying for anything over £100 so you have some backing. It’s sad that so many businesses are going under.

Yes we love the lodge, Haven have been pretty good really, they have credited us with our ground rent from middle of a March so that’s fair, taken a charge for looking after the site but the site is beautiful, all little roads are tree lined and loads of plants. We all have our gardens so nice and private.

Just baked a lovely slimming tea loaf and a quiche , my daughter is happy as I have done the quiche with spinach.....don’t know why, I hate spinach so I left it on my doorstep for when she called today with the newspaper for Colin.

Can’t wait to give the kids and grandkids a hug😰

Another Tesco delivery tomorrow , seems to be the highlight of the week🤣Keep safe, feel like I have made a lovely friend on here , Ursula xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

I hope they have. We had insurance for our holiday so we've been fortunate.

I love the sound of your site and that's very good of Haven, very fair.

I never used to like spinach but I do now and use it in a lot of things, love the sound of your tea loaf.

Grandchildren are wonderful, love mine to bits.

I've been going to Tesco but not been happy about the lack of distance so I've now bought a decent mask.

Aww thank you, I feel the same.

Take care

Alicia xx🌈😊🙏💜

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Hey talking about insurance, good job we had it when we went to Tenerife in November with the kids and grandkids... my new Tenerife hip cost £16,500😖

I can’t go out because Colin is vulnerable. So it’s deliveries to save the kids running about after us.

The tea loaf is lovely and 4 1/2 Syns on slimming world , will send you the recipe if you want to give it a bash,

Stay safe

Ursula Xx🙏🏻🥂

in reply to MydogBrandy

Flipping heck Ursula, definitely good job you did, that's some money.

My hubby Jeff is asthmatic but it's a lot milder than it used to be.

That's really good, I'd love it but unfortunately there's a lot of food I can't eat as I'm following the low fodmap diet for IBS, I'm GF as well. Really appreciate your offer though. My mum used to made a lot of tea loaves.

Take care and stay safe.

Alicia xx🌈🙏🤗

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Yes asthma is awful my son grew up with it and my grandson has it. They are very prone to hay fever too. Think it gets milder with age, found that with my son.

Just finished making goulash , kitchen smells lovely and made some blueberry muffins for after, slimming ones of course.

Take care

Ursula xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

There are a lot of similarities there as my hubby also gets hayfever.

Ooh yummy, I bet your kitchen smell awesome. I'll have to give goulash a go, I've never made it, as for blueberry muffins, say no more.😋

Take care and stay safe xx

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Love goulash , my Mum was Austrian, I was born there so I tend to do a lot of Austrian dishes, doing Schnitzel on Thursday .xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

What a lovely place to be born, Austria is so clean and beautiful. Goulash is on my list to make.

Alicia xx

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Yes definitely, it’s funny you know we were on about asthma earlier. When we took my son when he was little to Austria, he never had any asthmatic symptoms and when I mentioned it to my doctor she said that some of the inhalers have alpine flowers in them!

The air over there is beautiful I was born on a farm in the mountains. I try to go every year to put flowers on the graves for mum but because of ill health we haven’t been for 4 years. The last time we went I ended up in hospital in the village I was born. The hospital was great, gave me all my test results translated into English for my doctor.

Ursula xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

I didn't know that. Austria is so much cleaner than this country though. My husband lived in Deal in Kent when he was little and his asthma was so much better but the air is drier there. We live in Devon and the air is more damp here.

What a lovely place to be born. I'm so sorry you haven't been for 4 years because of your health, I really do hope you are able to make it out there sometime soon. Sounds like an amazing hospital.

MydogBrandy profile image
MydogBrandy in reply to

Yes so looking forward to it, speak by email to my cousin every week. Dad was in the British Army and met mum out there after the war , I was born and we stayed till I was three so Austrian was my first language, got no sexy accent like my mum had though 😂 so when I go back I just swing back into the language , my husband couldn’t believe it when he first went. Didn’t believe he had such a talented wife 😂

Because I have so many relatives we stay in a hotel and the hotel was built on the spot where Dads army barracks were right next to The Lake Worthersee. Gives me comfort when I am there.

Ursula xx

in reply to MydogBrandy

I'm glad you keep in contact with your family. My dad was in the British Navy in the war and my mum was a Welder.

That's so lovely that you were there long enough to speak the language, so you are talented as you can speak with a broad Northern accent and Austrian, that really is bilingual 😉

Such lovely memories to be in the same spot as your dad's barracks and next to a lake, lovely.

We use chocolate digestives in England when we make s'mores as we can't buy Graham crackers here so you just pop the toasted marshmallow inside 2 chocolate digestives (chocolate on the inside) and it melts - gorgeous...yum. We are English but lived in the US for 11 years and had our children there - great time. Lisax

Hi Alicia, yes it was a wonderful time. When we were in the US - we had a wonderful timecthere made new friends but we missed our family and friends in England a bit and now back in England we miss our family and friends in the US! In fact I feel like we have 2 homes! I would definitely recommend trying s'mores for a naughty treat. Just pop a couple of marshmallows onto a skewer and over a flames until they turn black and then pop between the chocolate digestives! Have a good weekend. Lisax

in reply to Gaithersburg

Isn't that just like it. Yiu obviously built up some good friendships in the US and back here then with your family and other friends and then you miss those in the US.

Now that sounds like a delicious sandwich.😋🌈.
