I met up with my friend for a walk today. It was lovely meeting up with her after all this time.
She was saying that a friend of hers is a healer. So when I came back I was looking into this and saw there are spiritual healers and faith healers. Phil said his cousin had seen a healer in the past and said it was very beneficial but I’m not sure as I don’t have much knowledge of this. Has anyone had any experience of healing good or bad?

No experience, but I know how healing happens in my mind and a gorgeous walk. Thank you. I didn't find meditation for helping sleep until ages ago, but that has helped no end 💕🌈
Hi Agoodenough, I'm a regular meditator and I'm not sure whether you were around when I was doing my daily meditation practices here on this forum. The post, The Calm Corner, was 'pinned' so if you want to have a look, you should be able to find it by doing a search, if you're interested. It's the practice of Mindfulness, through watching breath. It can be really beneficial to general health and wellbeing as you probably already know. 🙏
No your right it had stopped by the time I arrived. I will have a look as I ought to get back into it 🙏
Hi Ali
My mum when she was alive used to have IBS and was quite bad with it but then she had some healing and she never suffered with it anymore after that. My mum was a born again Christian and I have to say I think that her beliefs helped her a lot and she was very calm, I never heard her raise her voice, she was always happy.
I see that you and mattymoo33 have mentioned meditation, this is something I really ought to start doing again. I meditated every evening when I was having CBT and I really should start again as it really does make a difference.
Yes it’s great. That’s so interesting about your mum. Phils cousin got healed completely as well but I wonder how many people visit them. It’s very interesting.
Thank you and my mum was an amazing person and certainly had her beliefs. Sounds really good about Phil's cousin. I don't know of anyone who's visited them but it certainly is interesting.
I echo what Hidden has said below in the second paragraph in that the healer brings peace of mind and it's your positive beliefs that make you feel better. In my mum's case no money was ever involved as she was a member of the local church and it's just something that happened.
Here's to getting my act together and starting some form of meditation.
Your mum sounds lovely and your grandmother in other posts I remember from the past.
If I’m busy I put music on and I find that just as effective as meditation. My favourite one at the moment is light of your grace mooji baba that someone (I can’t remember who) posted on here and I’ve been listening to it ever since. I absolutely love it.
Even 15 minutes of daily meditation really helps. I have been doing it for years. Group Meditation and by myself. Now there are lots of apps like calm.

Hi Agoodenough, I've only ever come across one person who claimed that her bad back had been healed by a spiritual healer. I am pretty sceptical about this kind of healing, especially if money has passed hands, and those TV religious healers just make me laugh. But on this one occasion, money hadn't come into the equation. And the 'laying on of hands' was praised as being extremely beneficial.
My guess would be that the 'healer' brings about peace of mind so that you actually heal yourself through more positive thought and belief in the process.
I think that, in any case, it should be taken with a pretty big pinch of salt and that it might be dangerous in many circumstances to rely on this method of help and healing. And definitely don't be tempted to part with money to get such treatment.
That’s interesting and I think the same as you. It’s dangerous relying on it but unless large sums of money are exchanged then it’s probably not going to do any harm.
The healer who used to come here only charged for the cost of the petrol she had to used to drive here and back. I should have mentioned that in my post. Also, I should have said that spiritual healing seems to benefit animals more (and probably the same as homeopathy) as they don't put up any barriers whereas humans are sceptics.
I love the idea of healing animals. You can do remote healing too I was reading. I think it’s possibly a form of prayer. Well that’s kind not to charge money for giving up time. From what people are saying it does seem to work successfully under certain situations.
The healer who used to come here was not a well person at the time but she said when the vet told her about our dog, she felt compelled to come. We became very good friends and on the occasions that she couldn't come, she would do absent healing. This is, I think, where the healer tunes in to certain vibrations. I had such an interest in this and it remained with me for a very long time after we lost Billy. I still do to a certain extent. The healer moved away and I have only seen her once in thirty years and that was in passing. I often wonder how she is. The thing about animal healing and them not putting up any barriers is true as I remember the first time she came here, she got on the floor with him and he lay down and went over on his back. She put her hands on his groin area and he didn't move until she had finished, even when I got up and left the room he did not budge an inch and that was unusual. He knew what was happening and I think initially it was working, but as I said before, it just wasn't meant to be. xx
That’s so interesting. I agree that it would be unusual for a dog to stay like that when the owner walks out of the room. Dogs are so lovely. They could probably all benefit from healing as they give so much out 💚
Hi Age. Yes I have. One of our dogs several years ago was diagnosed with bladder cancer and as you can imagine, I was devastated. I asked the vet about healing and he gave me the name of a woman who he had seen cure a lab of an atrocious case of cancer. She came here and gave him healing for a while but it didn't work as it wasn't meant to be. She gave me healing as I used to suffer terribly with my sinuses, she only layed her hands on my face and nose on the one occasion and that was it. She said it would worsen initially then heal and that was it, by the next day it was gone. The same thing happened when a friend unexpectedly turned up one afternoon whilst she was here giving my dog healing. My friend came in and the healer asked her what was wrong with her shoulder. My friend look cockled and asked her how she knew (I didn't even know to be honest). They aren't supposed to ask if they can give you healing so she asked my friend to ask her, which my friend did. The healer layed her hands on my friend's shoulder for a while and said it would get much worse before it got better. The next evening my friend rang me absolute gosmacked. She said all that day her shoulder had been killing her it was so painful, but by the time the evening came, the pain and discomfort had gone and never returned. The healer was a member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers. Great stuff.
Hi, I have no personal experience of spiritual or faith healer's but I do believe such people can make a difference to someone. I also think people should be very aware that for every genuine faith or spiritual healer, there will be, ten more who will be fake, praying on the vulnerable. So anyone embarking on a new therapy should make sure they do their homework to make sure the person is genuine. I do think it is good to give new things a try. xx
That’s true. I do like the sound of it. Yes best to get someone who is recommended I suppose. I’m reading into now as I’m intrigued it’s very interesting 🙂
