COVID and Protests/Looting

I'm having trouble with my mental health along with my physical health. First in isolation due to COVID now due to protesters and riots, looting. I live alone with my dog. I'm darn near afraid of my shadow. I never thought I'd live to see this 🌎 in such havoc. Rioters burned down my sister's bank. I hesitate to even watch the news. I have severe anxiety, kidney disease and too many other health issues to mention. It's hard to keep any hope alive. Thanks for listening.

Hello

I hope that you can try to calm yourself down

Are you based in the USA?

Hi Klove22, I'm so sorry that these events are impacting on you so badly, on top of your coronavirus concerns. I think it's a good thing to hesitate to watch too much in the way of current news. Media has the advantage these days of instant access to almost any incident and a propensity for wringing the last drop of interest out of it. And to add to that, protesters use social media to increase the impact of anything they are choosing to do.

But please remember that it is a choice and yours is obviously to steer well clear of all the controversy and keep yourself safe.

I always think of this line from a hymn when it comes to hearing about any kind of violence, be it war or protest.

"Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me".

It's very calming and is perfect common sense. You cannot influence the mindset of a mob, but you can influence yourself. The world constantly goes through turmoil of all kinds. We are flawed beings but if those of us who want peace, practice peace, we can, in our own way, make change.

Take care and try not to worry too much. πŸ™

Very sad news what's going down in USA. The people just seem to be out of control.

You are better safe inside in such a situation, look for viewing things that please you on you tube, music, dance, films, comedy.

I do hope things settle down soon in the USA and the people will see justice for Mr Floyd and we find a better way to change all that is wrong with the system that brought these situations about.

Take good care and feel better soon.

Oh my love, I can't imagine your anxiety. Please stay safe, it will soon pass. You can only be accountable for your own decisions. The world is struggling, but those amongst us who care, must carry on🌈xx

That's the thing you can only control yourself and your actions as the looting and riots are beyond your control and another part of life that you can't change.

Absolutely. Doesn't make it easier, but understanding you can't change other peoples behaviour has to help.

I wish you all good things πŸ˜ŠπŸŒˆπŸ’•xx

Hello we are with you, we all know about suffering who come on this website, we are here to share with each other and offer support. Life in 2020 has become somewhat out of control. I came out of a 3 year battle with clinical depression and severe anxiety last fall, have a wonderful therapist and am on a med that is working for me, thought I had it made!!! Now we have the Virus, at 78 I am leery about leaving my house, I have no family here, my friend died in Aug, I like to go and get my grocery's as it gets me out of the house for a little while, I wear my mask and gloves, so far so good. And now we have the murder of George Floyd, such a crime, we have to be alert for riots, seems like the world is falling apart. If you live in the US we have a criminal president who does not lead he is more of an in-flamer and should resign and put someone in with a level head. I do not watch the news, gave that up years ago. I like to watch PBS has some good informational programs, and I read a lot. I cuddle up with my 2 cats and despite it all, I am happy. Try to look on the bright side, I watch the birds, I feed the squirrels, I am growing a garden on my deck, it is looking good, have some putting produce on already, probably more than I can eat, so I will give it to neighbors, there is a small lake at the back of my house, I watch the wind blowing in the trees, and the shadows they cast on the lake, sometimes see an egret or a great blue heron, saw a big rabbit eating the squirrel food last eve. I put food out after dark for the possums and raccoons, it is all gone in the morning, I like to think I am helping Mother Nature. Reach into yourself, you have a well of strength, tap it, ask for peace, courage, belief in self. I send you love and big virtual hugs.....Sprinkle 1....

Next time you go shopping, buy yourself a bunch of flowers, I have been picking them out of my garden and have them on my coffee table, they make me smile, and proud of myself for growing them......xxx ooo
