Good morning everyone hope you are all ok. I'm just wondering after reading different news channels should we be worried after the sudden rise in covid infections in E.U. Countries as I thought we were getting on top of it and if cases start to rise again here are we going to be kept in lockdown longer than we thought ? . What are your thoughts on this plus I can't believe people have booked holidays abroad . Clive x 🤗

Yes I am getting worried. We've come so far and I'd be very disappointed if things started to go backwards again. I for one won't be taking my annual holiday in Italy this year. I'll miss it like mad but I'd rather be safe. I feel for the people in those countries ,that so many of them haven't been vaccinated yet, and some are having to go into lockdown again.
I try to be as positive as I can , but sometimes it seems that just when we get some hope that things are getting better, along comes something else to knock us back. That's life I guess. Have a good weekend- it's quite warm here so I might do some gardening 🐰
Hi Clive, I think this has to be of concern to everyone but I do think that it might be the wake-up call that many people need with regard to believing that, if we get out of lockdown, we'll be free to do whatever we please, because now we see that this crisis is still far from over.My thought on it all is that, longer-term, we really can't depend on locking people down forever. We've all had enough and the economies of most countries will not be able to withstand it on too regular a basis.
The answer is, of course, our friend the vaccination, and at least on this occasion, the UK has run with the ball in terms of getting us all protected. Now we need, more than ever, to trust in the science and to agree to vaccination unless we have solid reasons not to. It's never going to reach 100% of people or be 100% effective but it's our best hope of living with and taming, this new and dangerous threat to our lives.
I believe that, as a country, we will be in a better position to be allowed new freedoms as summer arrives, but it really does depend a lot on how reckless the public as a whole chooses to be when those freedoms come. It can clearly be seen that now is not the time to be planning overseas trips without putting others in the path of danger. But fortunately or unfortunately we are all individuals and we all have opinions and they vary widely. The more reckless and adventurous are sure to engage in more risk and will sadly pass the outcome of that to the more cautious at the same time. That's life I'm afraid!
I certainly won't be taking risks and going out for sake of it I suffer from slight health anxiety and I lead a reserved legs anyway I don't like crowds I'll think I'm lucky I have lost my job, and can enjoy summer in my garden and in electric bike with mam I don't need to mix with many people I need to get rid of things and be more minimal so don't need shops exept bit of food, I must go to dentist but that's safe I can't go on holiday as you know pixie won't let me lol, so I think I'm safe 😊🌟🌈pixie built his immune up with bit of my avacado lol
Very well said Sue I'm like you we need to get our economy up and running not thinking about holidays abroad and just take things slowly because if we do things to quick we could be back to square one . This vaccine is not 100 per cent yet and if the covid mutates where do we stand , all we need is for a bit of common sense . Clive x 🤗
I agree we do need to take things slowly but I fear people will be reckless. Having said that I can understand why they might- it's been a tough year and I for one have had enough- although I will still be very cautious 🐰
We are doing OK in the UK...The vast majority of those who would have needed hospitalisation if they got infected have been vaccinated - so, even if cases rise again in the young, it should not overload the NHS.
They do not know to what extent the currently low infection rate is due to the lockdown, as opposed to vaccination.
They hope to lift all restrictions in the UK by July - but I am not sure if that will include letting unvaccinated holiday makers back into the UK without quarantine.
Hi , for me it's better to walk not run and see what happens..🙏
Me neither, and yes it is worrying.
Yes, I'm concerned, about another lockdown, also although work should re open on 12 April, we won't be sure until a week before that date
Hi it's up in my town well maby people are more relaxed after there jabs I know some who are I'm still cautious I'm not sure my jab worked properly as my immune system may have been s bit down when I had it I know there's a lot won't have the jab and have attitude they won't get it bad the figures are never accurate as them have been assessed have poss spreaders to more so that's maby why 😊x
Hi, I'm worried myself even though the NHS are doing a fantastic job .🙏
Hi Jerry , I just think that a bit of common sense from everyone when the restrictions are lifted slowly and let's see where it takes us we have given ourselves a fighting chance when we have had our second jab hopefully not 100per cent but better than nothing and let's keep listening to our top scientists and a big thank you to the NHS who are doing a fantastic job. Clive 🙏
It does concern me Clive but the reason why it concerns me is that some people unfortunately seem to think it's okay to do what they like. I only ever take holidays in this country but even if I did go abroad I certainly wouldn't be booking any holidays outside of this country.
I'm really pleased with the way the vaccination programme has gone, we are doing really well in this country with that. Personally I do not think the economy would be able to survive another lockdown. By the time it's July every adult should have received their first jab.
I will be carrying on as I have been doing, avoiding people as best I can and shopping on my own as well as sanitizing my hands frequently.
Excellent post Mydexter we don't know who as had the vaccine and we still have to be careful me for one will still wear a mask .🙏
I am sure they said on the news that the rise in covid cases in the EU is the british (Kent) variant. The worry is that if we have more cases of the Brazilian and South African variants, but they are trying to locate and isolate as soon as they know.
If you are determined to go abroad, Then you will need to take as many precautions as you possibly can.
It doesn't help the the EU can't make up its collective mind about the Vaccine and are playing silly wotsits.
Personally I'm staying in Wales! At Home!
Cheers. Midori
Morning. I don’t think lockdown will continue, but people are idiots, so a surge in cases is highly likely. I am CEV so will continue to shield for the rest of this year. I fear ‘Long Covid’. Apparently Death is now off the table because of vaccinations, but research is only just beginning on people with compromised immune systems. I get upset that ‘my personal choice’ to shield is mocked by others... everyone can assess themselves best surely...
