During lockdown I've been mainly baking and trying new recipes, I have also been making traditional pork pies similar to my local butcher's which are very popular here. Northerners like their pork pies with the warm juices slithering down their throats, southerners like theirs cold. Here's some samples I make for the family with hot water crust pastry with pig's trotters for the jelly mixed with shoulder pork and pork belly

You have triggered a very old memory in me with this post.
I last made pork pies like this a thousand years ago when about twelve lol.
They look and I am sure taste delicious but since I haven't eaten meat for about 50years I will not be making them again.
Look absolutely delicious l👍

Oh Yum. I love pork pies hot or cold, I'll have one of each please! 😀
But you haven't tasted Dallo's yet!
Delicious
I want one!!!! Maybe two. Yes, I want two. I miss the pies from your country.
When living down the south of England I missed northern pies, chips, sausages etc That's the main reason I make my own. Only problem with making traditional pork pies, only supermarket I find them on the shelves is Morrisons, alternative is to order at the local butchers. I also make my own sausages and sausage rolls. The wonderful thing about cooking is that all the recipes and info is there on the internet
Can you please send me one! xx
Ooh my,they look gorgeous
Hello just found your post, and it made my mouth water, I am from Lincolnshire originally and we loved Pork Pies, especially cold with pickles. So many good English things I miss, doughnuts with real clotted cream, good British Bangers, good Fish and Chips, no one makes them like the Brits. Good Shepherds Pie, Ploughmans lunch & a pint of good English Beer. , new potatoes. Oh I am feeling home sick, been gone for over 50 years!!!! Thank you for giving me a break....
Is a 'Southerner' Allowed to think these are ABSOLUTLEY DELCIOUS? Excuse the 'Southern' ignorance... but what is 'Hot Water Crust Pastry' please?
AndrewT
Thanks for your comment Andrew. I make them the traditional way with hot water pastry and pig's trotters for the juice/jelly. I try to emulate my local butcher's pies which are very popular locally. It's trial and error, as most pie makers have secret ingredients
Those look nice.
Those pies look scrumptious and so professional. I adore pork pies.
