I am fortunate enough to have a old mill race at the bottom of the garden and we see ducks, swans, fish, a grass snake swimming by and occasionally a kingfisher enjoying the space but this morning I spotted two Canadian geese checking it out...... they look magnificent but if these geese like the place I know that they will move the whole family in and that will be one big family - a lot of manure for the garden me thinks!!! 😳
I didn’t chase/scare them off as I don’t believe it’s my place to dictate what wildlife thrives here so I am about to look on line for a large pooper-scooper! 🤭

Oh I do know what a challenge having a lot of Canada geese around is. I suffered a bit from that when living elsewhere. They do tend to do a bit of a takeover, don't they? But I'm glad you find it in your heart to accommodate them. We do have to share our spaces. But what a glorious thing to have at the bottom of your garden. The photo is lovely. Thank you, There are some small lakes nearby so hopefully that space will look more attractive- the mill race is a blessing. When we 1st moved in over 20 years ago you couldn’t see the water as it was all weeded over and silted up.... many hours of hand digging out the silt and weeds got the main channel back again and the neighbours on board who initially thought I was stir crazy but once they saw some results they pitched in and did their bit.
We love it and sitting by the water watching the wildlife is my favourite meditation!
I love Canada Geese, I live by a small lake in S.C. Us. I always enjoy when they come and am sad when they leave. Not too many at my end of the lake this year, in the past I have talked to them, offered them bread and they come to me. Iove it when they fly overhead about 20 feet above me.....The older I get I love nature more than humans!!! Enjoy Ali I do.....Sprinkle 1 with love and hugs and bird songs.....
Thankfully they’ve taken to the small lakes so a short stroll of about a mile through fields/pastures and I can watch them in all their glory.
I totally identify with loving nature etc and still have those awe and wonder moments when sat quietly watching everything go by. We have a bird box with a camera in and we are watching a pair of blue tits making their nest 😎
