Your pup remains a cutie, though! I tried to be a groomer also. Same problem. Same result. Couldn’t finish. Respect for groomers!

I wouldn't sare try to groom my dog. She's quite a brat. Bites the heck out of me. She goes to her grommer today who can do anything to her. Told her grommer she must be the dog whisperer or something. I don't know how to post a picture of my dog, Daisy or I would. Maybe someone could tell me how to post pictures?

We used both he is pretty patient but it's hard because my back plays up I even covered the table and tried to do him but it's still difficult I am teasing his knots out with a detangling conditioner and try to do it in stages so it does not stress him too much tried following DVD but my husband also suffer from arthritis in his hands when ozzy lays on his side it is easierxx

One of my friends has a ginger tabby called ozzy!

Oh how funny Bobbyo! It all looks so simple at the dog groomer's doesn't it? And it's often the same with the vet. They give you instructions for administering a tablet and follow it up by giving the first dose, and it all seems perfectly straightforward. But it's just not the same somehow as you chase your pet round and round the house and find the medication lying on the floor where it's been stubbornly and utterly rejected. (Somebody's looking very much as if he's well and truly won his battle). He's looking a bit like the shepherd's dog on the specsaver's ad! 🙀

I used to groom dogs and it's really hard work especially when people don't brush them inbetween.

My tip is to always put them on a table and get someone to hold them still for you

It will take a couple of hours to do in one go so split it up into a few sessions.

Good luck

Couldn’t agree more Megnstan. I was a groomer too. What some owners don’t realise is that grooming is the bit in between clips, where they should be brushing their dog’s hair, much like they do their own. If you never brushed your own hair for 6 months, your hair dresser would have a huge job 😉

Unfortunately most people hardly brush inbetween but expect you to make them beautiful every 3 months.

You wouldnt swim in the sea or river and not wash and brush your hair after! But they seem to think that doesn't apply to a dogs hair.

I feel for all the groomers when they start back working and they probably will have no choice but to shave a lot of dogs really short and start again.

I can't do it now since the spinal surgeries I've had and I have 2 rescue whippets which are wipe clean dogs😄

The new fashion of cockerpoo, labradoodle dogs have the most difficult coats and I don't think people realise this when they see a cute fluffy puppy.

Totally agree Megnstan, it’s distressing to see and work with. Most groomers now are doing rescue more than the work they trained to do. I too had back problems and had to finish. I loved it, but glad I got out before the current craze of cross breeds with their thick wool coats, such a silly trend :( I too have wipe clean dogs now, lurchers and greyhounds :)

Today on my walk I was passing my son's house, and they were about to get in their vehicle with their dog. Apparently the dog groomers are still allowed to work, but hairdressers for humans are not. I'm less than two weeks past my cancelled hair appointment and already feeling like an Old English sheepdog with hair in my eyes.
