Has anyone else been affected by Monty Dons lovely dog Nigel passing away last week. We lost our lovely black lab last year and this has bought all the sadness back. X

No, but when I saw him in the last episode I noted he seemed different. He look resigned as though saying goodbye to the viewers. I sensed it straight away. Then I heard the news, accidentally, it felt like something I already knew.
I get precognition of things. Sometimes I'm sure things have happened before they really have. So when I hear about them, its like doing a double take.
Yes how very true
I 100% agree with this Md.
Yes, very much so. We lost our last one in January 2013 and it still hurts but we do miss all of them very much. They really do get right inside your heart don't they?
Yes I thought it was very sad. I read the book Nigel and really enjoyed it. Iโve noticed Nigel getting older of late but was quite surprised he had passed over. I used to have two golden retrievers. They are lovely dogs.
I know. Itโs so hard. 10 ish years seems such a short life. There is something very special about an older dog ๐๐
An old colleague of mine had a black and white cat called Nigel who died when he was 11.
11 is quite young for a cat isnโt it?
Yes it is.
Our black and white cat Zoe died when she was 22!
How's willow getting on?
22 is amazing!! She is very well thank you x she is 14 her daughter died in October and she was only 12. She was okay one minute then gone. She had an aneurysm unfortunately. Willow loves being the only cat! She gets twice the fuss and attention ๐
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of willows daughter.
Baby is fine and is enjoying her haggis off her mum. She was 16 in April and her mate Percy is 16 in June!
Yes it's ever so sad when a dog/ pet passes away. I got my very first dog in 2008 Jack a jack Russel cross and he passed away suddenly in 2016 only 8 years old.
Then I got Buddy who is my avitar photo.
I don't know if you've ever read it but there is a poem called ' A pets peace' by someone called Tracy M Johnson. It really gave me some comfort after Jack passed. ๐ค
Little Buddy is gorgeous. I will look up the poem and thank you x๐
Oh I didn't know that had happened actionteddy, but yes, exceedingly sad, knowing how much Monty Don loves dogs. I remember being reduced to tears when Alan Titchmarsh wrote some years ago about the loss of one of his beloved dogs too. And I completely understand that it would make you especially emotional having lost a beloved pet too. It takes more time than many people understand, to come to terms with the loss of a pet. We always keep them in our hearts, as much as we do the people we have loved. ๐
I thought Nigel looked very tired last time I saw him. He's been though a lot in his life. When he was 3 he had a very bad neck injury after chasing and catching a ball, and needed the services of the Supervet. He was about 12.
Cheers, Midori
Just heard about it this morning when I was watching the replay of gardeners world. Monty looked bereft despite still having two dogs. Just goes to show how individual each one is. Reminded me of my last three who passed many years ago but each one special in their own way x
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had three of my Greyhounds die in two years, all unique and special and much missed. I had the privilege of holding them all as they slipped away, doing my best to make sure they felt safe. One was natural causes and the other two were euthanised. I still have my lovely boy B but have come to the very hard decision that as I'm on my own and have leukaemia he will most likely have to be my last. I'm sure you have many treasured memories of your friend as I do.
My goodness how sorry and sad for you I hope your best friend gives you a lot of comfort and sending my very best wishes to you April x
I started watching on Friday but had to switch off because it was so difficult to see poor Nellie on her own.The atmosphere was so sad.It got me thinking about the dog I grew up with.Although he died way back in '84 I still remember him so well.
And the pain is always there.
Oh yes. We've had rabbits for over 20 yrs now and I still miss each one.Its always painful to lose a beloved pet but because of the pleasure they give I wouldnt be without one.I never realised before we had the first one that even a small rabbit can have loads of character.
Gosh it is soooo sad when we lose an animal, the house is eerily quiet no one rushing to greet you with a toy.I felt really sad for him, have lost a few dog's myself, last one i sat on vet's floor with him wrapped in his blanket as he died,it was heartbreaking i can feel a lump in my throat just remembering it.xx
Yes had to do that last year with our old boy he was 13 and like you was on the floor with him on his last journey. Still to this day I get emotional
Only us dog lovers understand the pain it hurts as much as if you have lost a human. Although a dog can be replaced it always leaves a big hole in your heart x
