Unfortunately - Garden Centres are all closed. But there are several really good online plant/seed suppliers.

Hi randomphantoms, that sounds like such a good idea but like CDreamer I agree it'd not be possible from garden centres, because they are closed. But there are online sources for buying seeds, and I think that even growing a tiny bit of your next salad would make you feel better and remind you that plants, like life, fights back and eventually blossoms, despite all the odds! Or, there's the age old tradition of trying to grow from a fruit or veg. My children once grew a pineapple top for quite some time before it gave up the ghost, and an avocado pit too. And in the tropics lots of seeds straight from my melons provided the next vine, so maybe you could also try that, just to see if you can get it started anyway.

Great idea . Some garden centres are still open in different parts of the country and delivering locally. Also Thompson’s online are delivering plants and seeds.
For anyone not able to access deliveries, you can grow tomatoes from your supermarket shopping tomatoes if you have any compost left from last year.
I tried it out for the first time last year with little picollini tomatoes from Tesco and was overwhelmed with how many of the seeds turned into plants. I had two grow bags on the go with them all summer. You can pick the end of season greenish tinged tomatoes and put them in a dark cardboard box (I added a banana as advised on a web site) , and they continued to ripen and turn red. It’s quite amazing really. They weren’t the biggest tomatoes I’ve ever seen - but then I’d started off with cherry sized tomatoes. I wish you lots of luck with your crop
