What's anyone done today

Had a bit of a rest day today, haven't done as much as I would have liked but there's always tomorrow, just rung my cousin, him and that side of the family are well except for his niece who went roller skating and has managed to fall and break her arm. I had live music outside today, but again it only lasted about 30 minutes, and when I looked out residents who were out were not social distancing

Were not social distancing, these people are just spoiling things for others who are, it will get to the bit that no one is allowed to leave home, even for exercise or walking the dog, sorry about the niece breaking her arm, perhaps she shouldn't have gone roller skating.

I think it is hard to wrap kids in cotton wool . Many are anxious . Parents not going to work , them not at school . It is just a risk as once a parent with 5 boys under 11 that I would have taken too . A bit of normality . My children used to roller skate down Eastbourne seafront . We used to out when I thought it was quieter but there was always the odd moan but we thought bikes were the worst as they could go on the roads . Childrens lives are full of risks . She could have fallen anytime .

I remember when we used to put Beano book on a skate and skateboard down street long before the actual thing invented. And we didn't always fasten the book on!!!!!!

Sounds like you've had a nice relaxing day.

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin's niece and I hope she heals soon.

I'm sorry you had to see people behaving like that, there are people really not taking this seriously.

Stay well and safe.

Hi Jennymary,

Sometimes, even though we aren't really all doing that much during lockdown, there does come a time when you want to just 'be'. I'm glad you've had some contact with family today though, and that you found them well. Sorry about the broken arm!

I hope the music outside isn't disturbing for you. It's not too bad if it's only for a few minutes and 30 is bearable!

My day was busy all day. I had a couple of long phone calls and my daughter asked me to proof-read some documentation she'd had to prepare. We had a simple meal this evening and then my husband set off for his night duty at the University again. So here I am watching Race Across the World on TV and going to watch Dragon's den, then get back to my book. It's one that was recommended to me by a HealthUnlocked Admin member and I'm really loving it. It's called A Gentleman in Moscow, and I did read somewhere that they are making, or going to make a TV drama based on it, so I want to absorb the book before that happens. Never good to watch a drama until you've read the book it's based on. (That's my theory anyway)😄

As you said tomorrow is another day and we can start over. If we didn't like today, maybe tomorrow will be better. Take care and thanks for sharing your day with us.

Yes I think better to read a book then watch programme or film rather than other way round

Hi Jennymary. I've been doing a spot of painting in my hall today. It's a bigger job than it looks. The time flew by really without me realizing so I had a very late dinner. I'm doing white and slate grey. Not too much slate grey though because it is quite a dark colour but I like it. I've made a good start on it anyway. Hope you have had a pleasant day. ☺☺

Rained here today but did get the dogs for a walk and made bread.

My wife and I have been going through important documents and photos that we want to scan and store on the computer. The photos are fun, the documents are pretty boring.

Scanning docs, my job for today too LOL, or maybe I’ll be yawning! 🥱

Hmmm...woke up and had a chat with an old friend I had not seen in about 3 or 4 years. She lives in Maine. I live in NJ. Made whole wheat pancakes for boyfriend and myself. Then I vacuumed...dusted...by 2:30pm I was able to sit on our deck, catch a little sunshin while journaling a bit. Then I took a good long walk. 4.75 miles while chatting with another friend. I enjoyed my day.

I had a good day it's easy to self isolate as we have a 2 acre garden to cycle in and dont have to go out at all.

last June I broke my arm felling a tree with my husband and couldn't do anything till it mended so couldn't drive for months and was kind of getting used to relying on others to cook , iron ,and shop for me

Love the name Noah by the way and a great grandma wow lucky you

Well, I woke up this morning! and after putting the coffee pot heating gadget on (Hot water for my tea.) my dog & I took a short walk (In my robe & slippers .) to get the Sunday newspaper. When we got back to the house I

went into the kitchen to get some hot water to make tea I found that I had no water in the “thingy”! I could have sworn I had put the water in the night before! If Zi didn’t put the water in there then where did I put it??!!!

We had a very productive day, cleaned out the utility room, Put a big table in the garden and took everything out. Rearranged the cupboards and now have lots more room, result feeling very pleased with myself.

When this first started I thought I would do a big clean out in each room every few days. Needless to say that didn’t happen, I do think because the sun was shining spurred me on.

Hope it’s shining tomorrow who knows what we may achieve.

We had a lovely 2 hours in the sunshine with our neighbours who have also self isolated for more than 2 weeks. They can access our garden without coming through the house. They brought their own glasses and drinks and we sat 3 metres apart .

Smashing !

You are lucky to be able to get bread flour - it's like gold dust at the moment. I have been baking my own bread for a few years now, and all of a sudden the whole country is baking bread! I have been trying for weeks to get some without success.

I made a big Sunday lunch and two nice desserts today. I spent time chatting on Zoom to my brother in the States and my sister in Ireland. You guys are lucky you can go out and you have gardens. I am in Spain and we are on total hard lockdown, no going out at all, only allowed 50m from your house to walk the dog and shop twice a week. We have been like this since March 14th and it is quite amazing how people can confirm and organise a new routine. The lockdown has been extended to April 26th ... So patience and resilience .... Enjoy your week 🤩

Fortunately, I don’t need GF, and I feel very sorry for those who do, because I’m told that people are buying it who aren’t. I think that’s awful as I know that people like yourself depend on it. Well done to you for having the foresight to get what you need in advance; I just didn’t see that buying flour would be such an issue, especially as there seems to be plenty of bread for sale.

Craftyperson profile image

Yes I was so annoyed at the beginning when I went to get my gluten free bread in Lidl and all sold out......which they never usually do and I can often get it reduced. They'd sold out of ordinary bread so people had obviously taken the gluten-free wished I could have seen faces when found out how awfull and dry it is. Also all my lactose free milk again every bit of milk gone even long life soya, oat almond etc again hope they hated the taste,!!!!! Following week I was looking where they keep free from stuff and noticed no pasta so said to one of assistants take it you sold out of normal!!!!

That is so difficult for you. I am not coeliac but we bake our own bread and my partner is Type 1 diabetic and relies on it. Like toilet rolls, there was none at all on the shelves. We had quite a good stock of flour before the virus but I'm going to have to get some soon. I have some on order, as I managed to get a Sainsbury's delivery slot, and am hoping that works. I am also vegetarian and I was unable to get any of the staple Quorn products that are so useful. In the end, I found some in Lidl, and I hope I will be able to order it from Sainsbury's when I need more, as I am now shielding as I should have been two weeks ago.

I remember when my coeliac friend, some 60 years ago had to make her own bread and cake; it was alright but rather rubbery. It was early days for diagnoses and for cooking with gf, and things have come a long way. I hope you manage to get some somewhere.

Sorry you are having problems. Wife is diabetic and suddenly found chemists have no test strips and neither have their suppliers. So ringing other chemists, then doctors, then chemists, then doctors and each one is engaged and engaged and then you get in a queue. Then with everybody doing electronic prescriptions, they turn round and say they want something back so the NHS don't get charged twice. But no clear answers or confidence that the matter will be resolved. Wife's stress level going high and so is mine because I have an op tomorrow. Yes still on ! Keeping fingers crossed.

MaggieSylvie profile image
MaggieSylvie in reply toPainSufferer

OMG! This is just as important as getting food. I'm afraid you'll just have to stay in a queue and then make a fuss because this is not a trivial matter. Stay well.

Hi sorry it's a bit late,so yesterday my hubby and me sat out in the garden a bit, we're very fortunate to have a garden as some don't,we decided to tidy it up a little bit,at least we can now see which plants have survived, and unfortunately some which haven't, whilst we were weeding we were joined by a robin, blackbird, bluetit(nesting in a small hole in brickwork, returning pair) we have a new addition of a pair of green finches in nearby conifers, they all seem to like the 3water tubs we added last year, with the addition of water plants.

Then time for some cooking, decided to make two cottage pies, one to eat and one to freeze, very nice if I say so myself, hubby leaves a clean plate so I know he likes it.

Then a sit down to watch some dvds of shows that we saw on holiday last year, ordered them from the entertainment mgr , thoroughly enjoyed the 1st 2(got a box set) really wish we were there in Dawlish Warren at welcome, but next year hopefully.

Then video call with our son and daughter, how I miss a hug with them, but better safe than sorry, just cannot get it why others just don't understand why social distancing is in place.

Then a nice glass or two of a nice red wine.

Today is going to be a quiet day, catch some shuteye later, got work tonight😁

Craftyperson profile image
CraftypersonReading Rabbits in reply toJudyspal

You had a similar day to me weeding etc but my visitor was a ladybird. Then I had a cottage pie I'd taken out of freezer cos I always do two, one to eat one for freezer. Then had a couple of glasses of red wine.

Hello twin LOL

Yesterday, I decided it was a good time to do things around the house that I've been putting off. I cleaned the carpet in my bedroom. I put water sealer on my cement block fence. I changed the air filters in my house. Then I took a much needed break. After completing these projects, I felt accomplished. I am thankful I had the time to finally do these tasks. Today it's back to work online.
