Before things changed, that is “stay-in shelter” social distancing, there was concern for those (like me) with Social Anxiety. Also, concern for staying home too much, watching TV or too much time on the Internet.
Well with the new way of life with stay-in-shelter I’m grateful for the Internet and how it’s keeping us all together. Without that we wouldn’t have this forum. Without the Internet working at home would have been a great difficulty.
Also to help keep my worries under control I have to limit myself from watching the news. It’s too overwhelming now. Okay, so once in a while I tune in to that. But can only take the Covid news for only a few minutes.
I’m located in Calif, SF Bay Area. To also help I get out midday and take a walk. It really helps uplift my spirits. Plus Spring is finally here. Nice to see flowers blooming and hear the birds chirping.
I also work for a community college which of course has been shut down. Yet we all connect remotely and have come together like a family that cares about each other.
So we’re lucky for the juxtaposition of too much Internet to becoming a big necessity to keep us connected.
I’m glad we’re all in this together. We certainly can use each other’s positive support while we go through this.
All my best,
-MZ ❤️

Hi
Welcome to this wonderful forum of kind ,caring ,compassionate and supportive people. You will get lots of help and advice on here. We are also good listeners too. I'm lucky to have a great support network of family and friends and of course everyone on this forum. . The internet is a fantastic thing at keeping us all connected m I'm self isolating as I have many underlying conditions. I had a telephone consultation with my GP on Tuesday, she told me to self isolate , I've not had a text or anything but I will adhere to her advice m I hope people are finally listening and staying at home!! Sorry, I went off on a tangent!! I do tend to do this. How are you feeling this morning? Take care and stay safe Lynne
What conditions do you have ? I have oa in knees, degeneration of the facet joint, IBS , diverticulitis, gastritis, diabetes, costochondritis, depression, under active thyroid, compensated cirrhosis- my liver disease was originally caused by meds from my drs over the years, fibromyalgia, spondylitis to name but a few!! Take care and stay safe Lynne
I have IBS, gastritis and am approaching 62... upper risk age-wise. I’m sure I have a cafeteria of other health stuff.
On a positive note I find taking walks uplifting. Finally the weather cleared today and I took a walk. Seeing Spring (my favorite season) out there sure lifted my spirits. ❤️
I am taking a photo on my phone nearly every day of something that makes me smile.
I am not sure what I will do with them after - whether I will just delete them or whether I will make an online "lockdown" album to look back on
I have found that actively looking for the good helps keep spirits up - it may be the dogs sleeping in strange positions, the pear tree flowering, one of my children making a cake, my new spring cleaned kitchen drawers - nothing special in normal times, but at least one smile a day is a positive thing
Also, I’m fortunate to have the Internet that has allowed me to connect with people globally. Online I’ve made friends with people in Europe and Australia. And by the way, if I had a wish, it would be to sit and have a chat with Queen Elizabeth. I like to watch her annual Christmas broadcasts because she always refers to world peace and humanity.
If you should see Steve Perry on one of your walks, tell him I said Hi! Seriously though, have you thought about meditation? It might just help the anxiety. x
It is nice to see people I know on this site also.
I am still in my pj’s waiting to hear an update on covid19. Our pres. is about to begin his TV briefing, however I have decided to forego listening. Instead going to do some kitchen cleaning. Then I am going to do some stretching and get ready to go out on my daily walk w my dogs. I’ll get caught up on the news tomorrow. I need to move myself.
I am fighting my tendency to retreat and do nothing. I fight that all the time.
I too am grateful we can all keep in touch. This site has been such support for me as it has for others, so I have managed to keep going and look forward to whatever I can muster up enthusiasm for.
It is such a strange time. Our worlds have changed so quickly. Personally, I hadn’t planned on dying just yet (ha, as if we have a choice) so I am trying to look forward to when this nightmare ends for all of us. I hope many of us and our families are able to make it through without getting the virus and if we do get it, to recover fully.
It is hard to imagine what our new normal is going to be. But I do hope it returns to close to what it was for our people (and for the economy). That is what I have hope for and look forward to in the future. We need to persevere.
So here’s to all of us in this together all over the world. We need together to get us through this trying time. I am hopeful. For now we know that keep 6’away, wash hands, don’t touch your face, is key.
Does anyone else need some Humor? Humor often gets me through tough times. So I am going to try to share photos that make me smile. I find a little humor can go a long way.
