Hi all, hope you're all well. May I please ask if anyone has had postpartum psychosis and gone on to have more Children? What was it like? Did you have support from medical professionals and if so from what point in the pregnancy? Did you get PPP again with a second, third etc? I really would like another Baby but I am petrified of becoming ill again and it not only impacting me but more importantly impacting my Family. I think I have PTSD from the experience. Genuinely one of the scariest things I've ever gone though.
Thank you for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it ❤️ x

Thank you for messaging us. I’m sorry PP has been such a terrible and traumatic experience. I did not suffer from this condition - I had what I guess would he described as moderate post natal illness but it left its mark on me and also was a traumatic time. Recovery was really tough but I did and in hindsight positives did come from my illness as it taught me a lot about myself and helped me prioritise the important things in my life. I did go on to have more children. Due to the pni I was under the care of a consultant , had more frequent checks with midwife and there was a plan in place should I feel unwell as having had pni also prioritised rest . Fortunately I remained pni free.
Why don’t you go and talk to your dr. I am certain you could get advise from the perinatal team and a plan put in place for you. I believe you can also be put on medication to minimise the chance of you falling ill.
You mentioned ptsd - have you spoken to anyone about this ? Could you get support and help? There are lots of techniques to help you overcome and recover from that including talking therapy, cbt and other methods such as EMDR. (My friend had this recently and could not believe how effective it was - essentially it processes unprocessed trauma and moves to it a different part of the brain). Your experience had been horrendous but with planning and monitoring as well as support any risks can be minimised.
