Celery seed

Hi all, just to let you know I started celery seed from Holland & Barrett to help reduce inflammation and I feel great. I am on 6mg of steroid and have noticed a big difference on my energy levels, I just can't sit still, I'm 46 going on 18. I know the steriods are doing there stuff for my Poly, but the extra boost is noticeable, my hubbie is now worried I will dump him for someone younger.....bless!

Hi Jannyrose

I knew celery juice could be helpful for inflammation so was interested to hear about the success you are having from celery seeds. I did a bit of Googling just to check whether there could be any contraindications, and came across the following:

"Diuretics (water pills) -- Celery seed also acts like a diuretic, so it could make the effects of these medications stronger, raising the risk of dehydration. If you take prescription diuretics, talk to your doctor before taking celery seed.

Blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants) -- Celery seed contains chemicals that may thin the blood. That could make the effects of these medications stronger, raising the risk of bleeding. Blood-thinners include aspirin, warfarin (Coumadin), and clopidogrel (Plavix).

Other medications -- Celery seed has the potential to interact with lithium, thyroid medications, and sedatives."

So just important to be aware that when on any medication, it's always wise to check out all alternative medicines and herbs with a pharmacist first.

It's good to hear how well you are feeling - perhaps your hubby might be less worried if he took the celery seeds too!!

Thanks for all that information very much appreciated. Will double check before continuing and yes I might slip a few into hubbies cereal x
