Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with PMR and following a rheumatology appointment am now taking steroids. I am feeling much better and having been signed off work for 4 months I feel I am now ready for a phased return to work. I am wondering if there is anyone out there in a similar position who has any advice for managing work and exercise alongside the tiredness and then the tapering of steroids!

Hello CatloverK😊Welcome to this forum.

Folk will be able to advise you better than me.

Fantastic that you feel able to return to work.

I've been on pred for just over two years and had pmr for months and months before I was diagnosed.

Lovely that you have joined the forum. The support and kindness here is like a daily dose of medicine that does one good🤗

Best wishes

x

Good morning and welcome to the forum. Lots to take in so will keep this short. Don't be afraid or worried about asking questions, no questions here will ever be perceived as being silly or daft and all will be answered to best of our abilities. Might not always be the answer you want, but hey ho that is life!

I carried on working after I was diagnosed with PMR, but I worked from home mainly and was able to work when I wanted.

Hi and welcome!

If you edit the title to include something like "working with PMR" it may well bring up Related Posts with other people's experiences. I know some have written about it but they may not dip into your post as "newly diagnosed" - and you need people to notice what you need to know!

It very much depends on what your job is - I never stopped but I was a freelance translator so only had to get from bed to computer desk, no commute, no standing, no fixed hours, plenty of stress though and that could be a problem.

Thank you, I will edit! I’m a deputy head at a primary school so pretty full on!
