I’m still having treatment for back pain after my fall 3 months ago. At long last I’m feeling an improvement, but in odd days it is very hard to walk far without pain. I’m only on 1mg Prednisolone at the moment so I wondered if it was safe to take Naproxen on “bad days”? Ibuprofen, Cocodamol & paracetamol have no effect. Thanks.

It’s not usually recommended - but at such low dose of Pred and only occasionally it’s probably okay…just make sure your stomach is protected adequately..

Can't see it would be any worse than if you were on zero pred. It isn't a nice drug either, like any NSAID, but taking it with food occasionally is fine. if it works. Strange ibuprofen doesn't work and it does - though ibuprofen does work well unless you start with a flooding dose of 800mg which is the way it was intended to be used for best effect.
I was prescribed Naproxen after my full knee replacement and for me it was an effective painkiller. I absolutely made sure I took it with real food (not just an oatcake or yoghurt) as I know it can be bad for stomachs. I came off it as soon as I could but it did help me through a few weeks of knee pain. Now I’m feeling like a new woman as the knee has given me a new lease of life. 😊
