Prednisone and Asthma medications: Hi I’m down to... - PMRGCAuk
Prednisone and Asthma medications

I'm not really clear why you are asking this?
You have been on both an inhaled steroid and oral pred to date, you will be on a medication containing an inhaled steroid and oral pred in future. The change is to the bronchodilator component of the inhaler not the steroid part.
Sorry I was so confusing….i just wondered if taking my steroid asthma inhaler would interfere with my slow taper from prednisone
You’ve always had steroid in your inhaler so it will just be part of your personal background steroid level. You are reducing the Pred tablet towards zero that includes your inhaler.
No reason for it - you just have a slightly higher baseline as your zero but as SnazzyD says - you always have. It is the same if you need a course of pred for a chest infection or asthma attack - others would reduce to zero at the end of the course, you reduce to the pred dose you were on for the PMR.
Not sure what the question is here, but the amount of corticosteroid that you get from an inhaler is tiny compared with even a low dose of prednisolone. Your inhaler acts locally so it doesn't take much to do the job. And even dose for dose, prednisolone is a bit of a sledgehammer when you compare it to other meds in the same class. If you are worried about the additive effect on your endocrine system, the inhaled corticosteroid barely comes into the equation.
Thank you…That’s exactly the answer that I was looking for to see if the inhaler made much difference to my taper …..sorry for the confusion I really appreciate your help you guys on this website are awesome….I don’t know what I would have done this last year without you… Wishing you all the Best in 2025 stay Healthy
