hello lovelies I am on 9mg pred and inject with methotrexate 15ml once a week

I usually have the constitution of an ox

but one of my ĺovely nurses came into work with a rotten cold last week.which took hold of me sunday and which I can't shake at all.

if I hadn't of had my jab I'd say its more flu than cold !

is this the pills etc . or the GCA or after the year ive had.am I just run down ?

Or even just a stinking cold? Sunday to Wednesday morning isn't very long to shake off a viral infection of any sort - what was it they used to say "colds last 14 days without pills, and 2 weeks with ..." And if it comes with a cough, that can last weeks. I know - I'm a cheerful soul ;)

You shouldn't take the methotrexate this week while sick though - give your body a bit of a chance as that will reduce your body's ability to fight it off.

And I hope you feel better soon.

Any self respecting virus can take 7-10 days before it starts to abate in earnest. I don’t allow myself to become properly indignant until day 10. Looking at the UK respiratory virus surveillance info Rhinovirus is well up there, Covid is falling but still higher than others and flu is low but present. Covid tests are still not reliable every time. The flu vaccine isn’t 100% and depends on what the virus does regards mutation. Who knows? There does seem to be anecdotal grumbles about a ‘cold’ that knocks people for 6 and the cough hangs about like the smell of beer in a pub.

one of the many sayings about colds is ‘three days to get it, three days to have it and three days to get rid of it!’

Aha, so you're the reason I've got this stinking cold then, eh? It's hung around now for over a week, and it's driving me nuts! I seem to be up one day and down the next, no matter how many Lemsips I take. Grrrrr!

Anyway, I think the whole country's got it at the moment, and it really is getting me down too. However, it won't last forever (I hope!) so I'll just stay in for now and wait for it to get fed up with me and go off looking for someone else to annoy. :-) :-)
