I am having a knee replacement operation next week and was wondering if I should increase by dosage rate or just keep things as they are ? I am down to 6 mg of Pred after being diagnosed with PMR in March . Many thanks .

knee replacement operation
No need to increase, but do make sure surgeon and especially anaesthetist are fully aware you are on Pred. You will be given IV during operation- and you may be advised to take extra Pred for a few days afterwards.
Good luck- and if you have haven’t seen this a bit more info about procedure etc -
Stay where you are for now, make sure that all the medical.surgical team know you are on longterm pred, above all the anaesthetist who will give some during the operation.
If you have a rheumatologist, find out their views on managing a flare SHOULD one happen post-op. You need to manage it aggressively to be able to do the rehab which is particularly important after a knee job but no so aggressively that the pred dose interferes with the healing process.
And good luck!!
