Before PMR I enjoyed going to a gong bath - an hour of mindfully listening to the sounds of gongs being struck and feeling the vibrations. I have been cautious about going since my diagnosis (summer of 2023), but I would like to go if I can. Anyone any experience or views?
I'm down to 8mg of Pred and considering dropping back to 7.5mg in a while - feeling fairly OK.

I’ve had quite a few sound bath experiences while I’ve had PMR, generally at the end of a yoga class or at a yoga retreat, with no adverse effects at all. I always find them relaxing. And you’ve done them before so you know what’s involved already - I’d say go for it if you feel like it!
I used to love sound baths and they certainly helped to distract me from my PMR. However, since my hip replacement last year I haven’t been to one as I read somewhere it can be uncomfortable if you have a metal implant. 🤔
I’ve got quite a lot of metal work in my left ankle following upon a serious orthopaedic injury and subsequent surgeries almost 30 years ago as well as a metal implant in my jaw following a bone graft. I hadn’t read about the potential problems when I went to my first sound bath at a yoga retreat and I found it to be absolutely wonderful. No ill effects at all and lots of very positive ones! My current yoga studio does one class every week which ends with a sound bath and they do post a warning about metal implants. I discussed it with them before first going and they seemed to be more concerned about pacemakers rather than orthopaedic metal. Appreciate my metalwork is different to yours but might be worthwhile discussing with whoever it is who does the ones you used to go to? I find them so relaxing!
