Feeling let down by GP

Good morning, I contacted my GP surgery this morning because I feel wretched and my symptoms are flaring up. I increased my dose back up to 15mg yesterday. It was not my GP who replied but one I am not too keen on, (everything by the book approach). Her reply was to not increase the dose further but to reduce back down to 14mg and to approach a local surgery for f2f advice.

I have read enough replies here to know this is not the right way to go and feel let down. May I check what would be advised by members of this forum. I think I will pick up once home in my own routine and environment this weekend. Many thanks.

Personally I’d stick at current dose until you get home and then contact again.

As for seeing a ‘local GP for F2F’- you should be so lucky!

Thanks, I will.

So sorry you’ve had this reaction from a GP who haas been so offhand (to say the least) and WRONG in her opinion that you should go back to 14mg pred.

I’m not sure when you return from your holiday but between now and then you have to refrain from activities that will tire you. Remember that there will be other holidays in the future.

Comfy chair, feet up, tv or book or snooze 😉.

And if you turned up at your local surgery, HER surgery, for a F2F like that - would you get one? What world is she in?

You could enquire if there is a walk-in centre locally perhaps.

I'm ok thanks, I think I'll be ok once home.

If it were me, I would do whatever I needed to do to get through my holiday. It doesn't sound like you are going to run out of meds in the meantime. Perhaps you could call the surgery again and make an appointment with your normal GP for when you go back?

Why don’t you phone your surgery & make an appointment for Monday next week, when you are home?
