The next meeting of the Yorkshire Support group will be in Leeds this coming Wednesday, 2nd October from 12 noon to 2pm, but drop in any time. Best not to be early as the room could be booked by another group.

The venue is the 'Community Hub' in the John Lewis store - on the 4th floor between the cafe and the toilets and by Babywear!

The address is Victoria Gate, LS2 7AR.

We look forward to welcoming any of you who are able to join us. You may bring your own lunch and/or get drinks and food from the cafe.

I’m hoping to be there as I missed the Ilkley meeting. That’s if my DIL doesn’t start in labour!

We do hope to see you - very appropriate venue, by Babywear! If we don't see you, hope all goes well.

I hope to be there. The last meeting I attended would have been pre Covid. Really sorry about that.

Don't apologise - most of us have had to put things on hold for the last 4 years or more. It will be good to catch up with you.

Let's hope we recognise each other! 🧑‍🦳 😀

Hi, I came to the meeting in Leeds, I had a question about eye discomfort and have since seen the optician who is sure it is due to tapering the steroids, apparently it affects the cornea.

Please can you remind me of the alternate day tapering that you suggested at the meeting, I see my GP next week and will put it to him, the first week of my last reduction was horrible with fatigue and brain fog. Things have been better since. He really wants to try lowering the dose by 1mg per month.

I found the meeting very valuable.

Many thanks

That's interesting that the optician feels your eye discomfort is a response to a drop in your dose of pred.

The 'Dead Slow Nearly Stop' taper plan allows you to gradually reduce your dose over a period of time, which can be 26 days, 38 days or 52 days depending on the intervals between 'new' doses. (It's not alternate day tapering, but the effect is that you will have taken your old & new doses on half of the total number of days ie, 13, 19 or 26.)

It's in the FAQs (N - Z) under 'T' for tapering plans - here is the link: healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

I wrote it out for my GP at the start of my PMR journey and he thought it was a great plan! I hope yours does too. Using the first 2 options, you'll get to the lower dose in just under or over a month. What can your GP object to about that? 😉 😀

We're pleased that you found the meeting valuable and look forward to seeing you again in Leeds in the New Year - maybe sooner in Ilkley or York. Keep an eye on the PMRGCAuk website for dates.
