NHS Warning About Taking Ibuprofen
A timely reminder to always be aware of all potential drug interactions really, as well as that of Ibuprofen. So many of us are taking so many different medications, I for one always ask if any new medication introduced is safe to take alongside my current drugs.
Thanks Bcol. A useful piece of information.
Good reminder.
I’m on BP meds - so been a no,no for a long time! Way before Pred joined the party.
thanks for this. Ibuprofen is definitely a no for me after my son having gastric bleeds and being rushed to hospital by ambulance. He had to have blood transfusions and was told that this happens quite often. He took ibuprofen as indicated on the pack and had a terrible time. He spent 2 nights in hospital.
I only ever took one ibuprofen tablet. Almost as soon as I'd swallowed it I started having very painful stomach cramps. They lasted for quite some time before the tablet left my stomach and even then I still had a dull ache covering the whole middle of my body. Not a pleasant experience.
After that I threw away the rest of the tablets and have never taken one since.
For over 32 years my rheumy has always told me never to take Ibuprofen x
I would say my first rheumy was sub-par! When I was started on 125mg of pred he told me to take a full asprin,, not baby asprin, a day as well. I told him I didn't take any NSAIDS as I'd had previous bleeds...."Oh, you must take it daily to avoid a stroke, I was 6 weeks away from turning 80. After about six months, I left his practice and he said, "Have your new Primary Care check your kidney numbers, since you started here they have dropped from 60 GFR to 38." I didn't even know what GFR was...among other things!
My Primary Care said..pred and asprin were not recommended; for stomach and kidney issuess. I'm fortunate that my numbers came back and even got over 60....just another thing to be on the watch for.💞
