Got confused and thought I had missed my pred dose on Tuesday at 6pm (I hadn’t) and took dose at 8am yesterday. Not due to take next dose until 6pm tonight. Feeling tired, sleepy and a bit achy. Currently tapering and at 8mg. Should I wait until usual time of 6pm or take earlier or supplement with 2 or 3mg just now and usual 8mg at 6pm?

Mistimed Pred Dose
If you are feeling a bit ropey maybe take a couple of mg now.. and then get back on track from tonight. Or is that just because you had extra yesterday and felt good, maybe did too much?
It's easily done - so maybe use a dosette box or alarm on iphone as a reminder..
Thanks. I will try that. Maybe also tapering too quickly. Had two weeks at 8mg and starting 7mg for 2 days and 8mg for 5days this week.
Too fast a taper... once you get below 10mg recommendation is 1mg every 4-8 weeks - certainly not every 2 weeks!
I'd return to 8mg for another couple of weeks. Stay as you and you might be heading for a flare - so cut if off pronto!
Advice noted and actioned. I had thought the 5 week slow taper regime was the way to go.
Not saying it’s isn’t - I was quoting the ‘official’ guidelines, not necessary our personal view. But even with the slower taper, you can still decide what dose you drop each time.. some can manage 1mg, many prefer 0.5mg, and some can only do 0.25mg.
You do what best for you.
In my case I take it now, and then carry on as usual. No hanging around in my case!
having only been diagnosed over the summer & new to meds (having previously been healthy) I’ve setup all my medications on the health app on my phone.
I take the steroids in the morning before breakfast & the stomach meds at tea time & the bone tablet on a Sunday night.
It takes a bit of time to get all the details into the health app but once it’s there it’s great.
It keeps putting reminders on the Lock Screen until you tell it you’ve taken the meds.
I find it useful if I’ve got distracted or perhaps been out for tea etc.
Hi, can you tell me what Healthapp you’ve been using please. I have to take 9 prescription meds, various supplements and insulin for my diabetes twice a day. I do have some reminders on my Fitbit but they are not that reliable. Thanks.
I have an iPhone so it’s the native app that’s on the phone. Not being a fitness fanatic or anything, I’d never used it before. It’s worked well though.
I’m not very familiar with Android phones but I think there’s a similar one on those.
There’s plenty of health apps on the app stores but the question for me is them recording my data. I really don’t want some third party knowing what medication I’m taking & then pushing products to me all the time.
I hope this helps. 👍
Hi Craighead, thanks for your prompt reply. I too have an IPhone so I’ll investigate what Apps I can install. Brain fog with PMR doesn’t help.
