Now on 6mg my anxiety is much improved but feeling nauseous and very tired which I guess is adrenals struggling. But I’m now getting aches and pains in arms and legs in the morning shoulders and hips are fine, I’ve experimented with taking 1 ibuprofen before bed and I’ve been pain free in morning also tried 2 paracetamol when I wake up and within an hour I’m also pain free. My latest crp results were raised. Is this adrenals or a flare ??

If the blood markers are raised then that suggests it might be a flare - a single raised result without symptoms shouldn't result in a kneejerk raising of the dose but you have symptoms. However - you can manage the pain with paracetamol which often means it may not be the PMR. The blood markers can be raised for other reasons - an infection like a chest cold or an injury with bruised muscles. Ideal is to recheck the blood test and see if there is a rising trend.

If you are going to wait and see for a few days - use paracetamol rather than ibuprofen, it is better for your stomach.

Your symptoms do sound like the adrenal glands may be waking up and reacting. It is good that you do not have the PMR symptoms though and you have found a way of feeling comfortable.

Thank you both for your replies.

Even if I don’t take any painkillers the pain does wear off after a couple of hours. I just wondered if the raised crp could be caused by damage done by being on Prednislone for so long bursitis or tendinitis??? It’s such a guessing game which stresses me out and that’s no help!!

CRP raised markers just show there in inflammation in your body -not the cause…Could be bursitis, tendinitis, your illness flaring -or a whole host of things -including stress.

But as mentioned it could just be a blip - best to get it checked again in a couple of weeks and see if it’s up, down or similar.

But as you are some pain, could be the beginnings of a flare.
